Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Life after Oracle is good

Joined Oracle through an acquisition a few years ago and got canned last year. Let me tell you, life is so gooooood after ORCL .... 35% pay raise. 60% less work.... and a whole lot of respect from colleagues and management in my new company. Don't let Oracle bring you down. The only people who stay there are the toxic ones, ones who don't do any work... or a combination of both.

Yep. I’ve been at Oracle for 6 years and they are so behind pay wise. Im seeing positions that are easily almost double in base pay. We had a great group of like 70 great people, merged with another org and now less than 10 from original group. As they have left for better pay …. And gotten it- in many cases double. Benefits at Oracle are awesome though.

The money is great, that is why we all slave at work and spend less time with our families. But it's the recognition, the work environment, teamwork, not backstabbing that make all the difference.

Man. One, I’m happy for you folks that got new jobs. I’ve been getting contacted a lot and just trying to find the best fit instead of leaving out of spite. I have like 125+ hours of vaca which will also be a nice parting gift when I leave but your post really made my day. I’ve been so depressed about things here. I was considering therapy just to get my head right. Thank you for your post.

Getting RIF'd by Oracle (July 2020) was difficult at first but I too found a great job with a significant increase in salary. I received the max severance package and was able to bank a decent amount. There absolutely is light at the end of the Oracle tunnel. Keep the faith!

Being canned by O is like being in a dark tunnel and suddenly getting thrust into the light.

Nice analogy,

Seriously, the longer you have been at Oracle, and thus the longer your salary has been held down, the bigger the bump when you leave!

Stop waiting for that package, which will never come. Leave and get the money now!

Being canned by O is like being in a dark tunnel and suddenly getting thrust into the light. At first, it’s blinding and it’s hard to see the path forward. Then your eyes adjust to all the possibilities. And you are able to take a huge step forward.
