Thread regarding ViacomCBS layoffs

It's not WFH

Everyone keeps blaming work-from-home for performance problems, but it’s not the issue. Morale has been crushed by layoffs, budget cuts, and chaotic changes. Not taking away peoples' flexibility might actually build some goodwill and help fix some of the damage.

@hb do you have to be an a$$? People are expressing concerns you dipsh*t!
Some people can’t make or afford to leave. The job market is a nightmare.
Selfishness is winning while is empathy is dying with you.

I was hired remote before covid. I live half a day+ from an office and have shared custody preventing me from moving. Sure fine they don’t want me anymore, even through for many years now my performance rating, responsibilities, pay and bonus have been increasing.

I have built and hired an entire team spread around the country. All hired remote. This is not just a bunch of people that don't want to go to the office, this is a complete change in circumstances packaged as a “voluntary” resignation.

Unless my entire team is replaced with people all in the same office (for less than their competitors are paying), they will just be sitting in an office on zoom instead of at home.

As an organizational improvement I don’t see how this helps. If they truly wanted it, it would be a slow thing, not a email either no ability to even get answers to basic questions.

OMG guys let it go. Work from home was not supposed to last this long. Rather than be grateful all this site has become is adults crying like children. It’s not going to change anything. If you want to cry start a blog. If you have information or questions bring it here.

Morale has been down for years , it’s not real red to WFH

Managerial opposition to WFH never had to do with productivity. It was about the lack of control. Because even before the pandemic there were plenty of senior people who would just decide to "work from home" while us peons had to commute in every day. Now that the playing field had been leveled somewhat, management must assert their authoritah.

This ridiculous and out of touch mandate is absolutely going to do further damage! As if it could get worse.
