Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

GN&T Q&A

In a nutshell the message today was "if you don't like the idea of RTO, then leave". If you want to be promoted and you don't live in a main hub location "too bad". In other words you are just a damn number. Tone deaf leadership to think that people want to move just to move. They should all be fired! They have done zero for this company and simply waste money. Many of us have been to this rodeo show before.

@dc Tulsa is not “dirty flip flop land”
Many don’t even wear shoes to the office.

@bg "Grow up. Start living in reality. Things will be getting tougher. Be grateful for what you have. If you don’t like your job quit. We don’t want your negative attitude around."

So you call out people with a negative attitude by using an attitude that's even more negative? Got it.

Perhaps you and your fellow simpletons will. Make no mistake, there are exemptions. Tis a shame that you aren't valued enough to obtain one.

Have a super fun time in the office, though!

Don’t want to RTO? Leave.’ Easy to say when Verizon’s whole strategy is holding people hostage in a weak job market — that’s not leadership, it’s desperation.

You will either all be back in the office or on the unemployment line. You are not as important as you think that you are!

You have that much faith in Verizon's performance management? Super cute!

I'll be back here after 1/1 to gloat. Still employed and still not coming in. You'll still be living with it.

Just because your limited intellect can't grasp a concept, doesn't mean it's not reality.

@h7 My money says that you are off the payroll by this time next year. PIA peeps are difficult to work with and tend to talk more than deliver. You are definitely a short timer and your note tells me that your bosses already know who you are. Good luck!

No. Despite your desire to force everything into your simplistic worldview, I don't like it and I refuse to leave. I'm one of these

Learn to live with it, as it ain't stopping any time soon.

@OP I hate to hurt your beta feelings but YOU ARE LABOR. You are just one component. To whine about going back into an office while 'working for GNT means that you are not worth the money they spend on you. Saddle up! Adios!

Hey, maybe the men will have to wear suits and ties! Women pantsuits and dresses! Think of the possibilities!

Oh, btw, working in the office doesn’t mean your job can’t be outsourced ;-)

@ck there are a bunch of people responding who have zero idea. Many of us were FORCED to go home based well before COVID and then they closed local offices. Now after 12 years, we are getting this info without much details on which locations will house which functions.

Wow! You are even more well-informed than the Cleveland Clinic on Covid

https://my.clevelandclinic.org/health/diseases/21214-coronavirus-covid-19

"But COVID isn’t “over.” It can still make you severely ill, cause symptoms that last months or years, and be fatal."

You need to get yourself over there ASAP and set these know-nothings straight. Better get moving...

Otherwise, you are naught but a blithering buffoon.

It's a curious thing. Some people who want to end Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) programs to "get back to normal" are the same people fighting tooth and nail against returning to the office (RTO). You have to appreciate the hypocrisy. Many of these "hard-working" Americans, comfortable at home in shorts and flip-flops, complain that their jobs are being taken by immigrants or greedy corporations.

Wake up—COVID-19 was five years ago. The world has largely returned to normal, yet some are still complaining because they can't run a second job, manage their spouse’s online business, trade stocks, do laundry, or cut the grass while on the clock. Companies know what's going on; they have the metrics and data to prove it. While you're juggling personal errands, your colleagues in places like Ireland are doing a better job and will likely get more responsibility. It's time to be grateful this lasted as long as it did and realize things are changing.

Oh. How about the question on how our overseas support stinks. They wouldn’t mention VDSI, dodged it. No Joe. It’s not Europe who’s horrible. You all know who is. It’s the same who don’t know how to drive trucks in America. Let me give you a hint, sandals. Nuff said. Yes. They stink.

This QA was a joke. If you noticed. There was a question about why isn’t rto on the pulse survey. Thar came up on the screen and disappeared. The meatball is a clown. The rest of them as well. You don’t want to go in don’t go. Don’t quit. Let them fire you, it’s not like you get any benefits when you walk out.

Many EVPs and SVPs (including Kyle) had to move to Basking Ridge in order to take a promotion. They vindictively WILL NOT let their subordinates work from home. Has anyone seen an SVP or even VP designated as Home-Based? I’ve seen as high as Directors but that’s about it.
