....to only spend at Walgreens! Even when they try to be generous, they're greedy. Lol!

@h5 We got more before the mess with Boots. Boots was the start of the downfall of Walgreens.
@183 Yes. We all know working for Walgreens is pretty awful. Low pay. Understaffing. Probably very little opportunity for advancement and a very uncertain future for many since Sycamore bought us. But people have their personal reasons for staying. Not sure why you are so invested in why some choose to stay.
They give you what they think you are worth....peanuts. They know most of Walgreen's employees won't leave because its the only job they can get. Because if they could get a better job they would leave, but most can't get hired elsewhere. Some will think that is not true, but it is. Or else you would leave and better yourself and family, but you don't because Walgreen's pays so low, why would you stay if other companies pay a lot better in life. It's because it all you can get . Most are at Walgreen's now til they tell you until they lay you off. Pretty sad way to live. McDonalds pays more in many places per hour that what Walgreen's pay its employee's in the store.
$25 "free" gift
It will be listed on my paycheck as a "gift" of which I will likely pay around $7 in taxes on.
$25 - $7 = $18
Since I cannot use $25 of rewards, I have to make TWO separate purchases: One in which I redeem $20 and one in which I redeem $5.
Since I am unlikely to find an item that is exactly $20 or exactly $5, I will have to pay money into the system each time. This will likely be an extra $5 each time for a total of $10.
$18 - $10 = $8
So, this reward, is AT BEST $8.
However, I can mostly find the same item in a larger package size for less at say Walmart.
Which means, this 'gift' could very well put me in the negative in which I end up paying Walgreens more than I receive.
@k7 In the grand scheme of things $25 in Wag money IS much pretty much nothing.
As one user pointed out, I’d certainly rather have $25 than nothing. That said, I’d also prefer to see my merit increase reflect the level of work I delivered beyond my core responsibilities. I spent many nights working very late, despite my kids begging me to play with them, with the expectation that my salary would grow, allowing me to begin saving for my kids college fund. 0% increase was a real stomach punch. Instead, those funds - and more - will now be absorbed by the added costs of commuting to Deerfield.
Are you new? We get this every year.
Welp, I for one will gladly accept my $25. Definitely not a huge gift. But as my dad would have said, it’s better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick. And am guessing those pokes are soon to follow.
Proof that people will complain about anything.
It would seem corporate is pretty proud of their paltry gift of $25 in Walgreens money.
They should give us an option to reject this miserable offer tied to a mid-December pay-out date. Stick your $25!!
