Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

Promote some to managers

Then wait 3 months to abolish them. Just a nice way to trim the fat. Guaranteed.

Can you imagine a manager demoted to a laborer? That would be a slap to the face. Why would you even stay with UP? Wait you only have UP skills that wouldn't pertain to the outside world, unless you apply as a Burger King team leader. Jajajaja

If you are terminated as a manager, you will not be employeed with UPRR. Period.

To @guw What happens when the ARASA Car & Loco Foremen are promoted? All of their Supervisor positions are gone. I know your response will be, they can go back to their tools. How many of those jobs have been abolished or entire shops or locations closed entirely?

If they didn’t have seniority then how can they be “promoted” to manager? That’s like saying you’re promoted to conductor after completing your training from coming off the street. Regardless they aren’t really having to fire anybody. Entire classes of OMTS are gone after a few years. FMTS aren’t much better.

What if they don't have any seniority to go back to? Or better yet keep the newly promoted managers & get rid of some of the dead weight older managers.

Except that some of those “promoted” do not have enough seniority to stay.

First off, being a manager is a major demotion. Second, if they were “promoted” to manager and terminated then they just go back to their seniority.

You’re continuing because nobody wants you.

I concur. That's why I'm continuing to apply for other jobs outside of UP.
