The Termination letters are being prepared. Be patient. You'll get yours soon...

From your assumption that people had already been laid off, it's clear that you're clueless and not an employee of VMware. Stop phishing for information.

Nobody works for Broadcom yet. Broadcom don't own VMware yet. So nobody has been laid off yet.

Quite simple really.

So if folks didn’t receive offer today does that automatically mean they have been laid off ?

Today was full time offers or transition offers to US and Canada employees. Above comments are correct, severance/termination will only be communicated after close when Broadcom officially owns VMW workforce due to labor laws. Severance packages are supposed to be defined by VMW’s current policy, however only some countries policies are posted.

Today was offer, transitional offer with an end date stated after acquisition, or nothing. Severance letters come after transaction close. US.

When BC purchased Symantec, severance provided was 1 month pay per year of service. I was just under two years so only received one month of severance pay. Leave entitlements were paid out. There was also a one month notification period that they paid out. I’m in Australia. Some of these are local legal requirements, some are company policy. Also, in Australia, severance pay is either tax free or at a different tax rate.
Whether it’s the same this time around, we won’t know until next week at the earliest.

If you did not get an offer by Thu evening assume the worst.

Broadcom cannot legally layoff anyone as they don't own the company yet. Even the offers are contingent on close.

On 10/30 you will lose access to VMware systems. At that point you will know that you're the unlucky bloke that got laid off. Harsh but that is how corporations do it these days.

The people assuming they got laid off because they didn’t receive a letter today when others on the same team did, that’s the only notice you will get until the deal closes.

It is Broadcom doing the terminating, not VMware. All letters will be coming from Broadcom, not VMware. Broadcom cannot lay anyone off until they have bought the company. It has been clearly stated that no severance letters will be going out until after the acquisition has completed.
The only caveat to that are people who are choosing to decline the offers and opening up to severance, but they still will not receive severance letters until after the acquisition

No severance letters will be going out until after acquisition

Really? I heard of some folks that today got transitional offers and others that have been laid off.

How is it after the acquisition? VMware is terminating not Broadcom. If it's after the acquisition would that mean that Broadcom is doing the terminating?
