All I know is I was told that Teamsters union rejected VLO outright and completely by shopstewards choice, not by actual vote of masses, without talking to the rest of the group they represent. At least a handfull of teamsters were excited to take the VLO offer. I was told the decision was because it was company wanting to pick and choose, rather than seniority based from top to bottom of seniority list. In a way it is great standing up for seniority, but also keep in mind all the teamster shop stewards are high enough on seniority to not risk being on chopping block if company decides to lay off some of the teamsters. They made the decision knowing their job was not at risk, never discussing with those that would have taken the VLO, nor with those lowest on seniority that are at highest risk of job loss due to the VLO rejection choice made by others. Those lowest on seniority list are now at further risk of layoffs that could have been potentially saved if VLO was allowed by shop stewards. Still no official announcement from union teamsters to the actual teamsters affected that their right to VLO possibilty has been stripped, and that the lowest on seniority are now at higher risk of job loss. I love the idea of union, i am appreciative of the good unions have done, and I do believe it is actions like this that make unions look bad and inspire hate by it's own members to simply not be included at all in the process of big decisions like this that can litterally result in job loss of its own members. Being in a union is supposed to protect people from job loss etc, but Idk anymore. Management needs to be very very careful of layoffs especially with Teamsters because it is getting harder and harder every year to simply get teamsters hired on because of requirements and qualifications etc needed. The company already increased starting pay dramatically because lack of qualified applicants. And 9/10 teamsters at boeing today will be retired or at retirement age in roughly 10 years. It is a real possibility that replacing retiring divers will not be possible in upcoming future unless boeing is willing to double its wages to continue to compete against the rest of the country for the top CDL A drivers. And lowering it's hiring qualifications would be catastrophic financially in accidents by lower skilled/qualified drivers. My opinion is saving every Boeing CDL A driver now, will save the company drastically financially later on as the shortage of qualified drivers continues to worsen. A little insight, about 10 years ago it was like 800 qualified for 1 job application, last year about 5 to 1, and just before the pandemic 0 to 1, causing company to dramatically increase starting wage to simply attract qualified applicants. So unless the company wants to increase wages every time they want to hire someone on and hurt themselves on negotiations at contract times, be mindful of how Highly qualified and rare the teamsters are that drive for the company. People might not know it, but a good young cdl A driver at boeing is worth soooo much because it's one less struggle to find a replacement in the years to come.
Why is Boeing so stupid? Why can't they take the time to send out VLOs the ONLY the people who will be accepted.
Why waste people's time sending them to people and then denying them.
400 employees requested VLO in BDS. Notices of approval or denial to come out by next week.
@gto+14P1ZtIP, are you serious? This is terrible news.
Sounds like about 7,000 offered in BDS and only about 400 took it.
No you don’t continue to pay union dues. You go to the union and pay $2.00 withdrawal. Keep your rights and don’t have to pay the initiation fee if you come back.
Yeah once I'm gone I have no intention of returning to the forsaken factories of the murderous Boeing company. Never forget what these people got away with.
Why would you care about call back rights? Boeing didn’t want you in the first place. If Boeing did you wouldn’t be laid off. Unreal.
Ransom Extortion
that's our union that's our Boeing, the Apple doesn't fall far from the tree
I have some good news for ya OP. Did you know when we get laid off we still have to pay our union dues if we want to have call back rights? Oh wait that’s the bad news...
I didn't qualify but I downvoted anyway. Or did I?! Hmm. Let's derail this ASAP.
Ladies and gentlemen, I give to you an integrity based poll.
