Laying people off by phone is the threshold of being the worse CEO ever? That's where you are drawing the straw? You sure the losing $100B in value and betting the whole company on an overpriced acquisition didn't already but her pretty high up on that list?
I will tell you what. If I get laid off via a recorded phone message Vicky will go down as the worst CEO ever. I have been laid off before and never by a recorded message. If that happens she needs to resign out of pure shame. The buck stops with her, and if she can't tell some HR a$$hole she would never do that then she has no business ever running a business again. There is no doubt there will be layoffs, but have a little class and let your manager give you a phone call. There is no excuse to be a CS about it. I am really thinking this is just someone making something up, but if true anyone that is left should realize you don't count, and if you ever get a chance to jump ship do it.

Talk about social distancing, EC can decide on people they want to lay off, then a recorded phone call followed by e-mail and you’re gone. No need for a security escort, IT can disable your userid and e-mail account in a flash. Poof you’re gone. No $’s left for severance.
And for having to manage through such tough times, EC will up their pay and bonuses to boot. Heck they just saved a boatload on severance pay!
Until they laid you off, clearly! Just have to treasure those memories of Greenway Plaza.

Card keys have been deactivated I’ve been told. You can get in to the ground floor and garage. Depending on what you need, perhaps security can get it for you.
Rumor has it that we should expect another 6-8 weeks of remote work. I don't have enough snacks for this, I'm woefully under prepared :(
