Thread regarding American Airlines Group Inc. layoffs

I didn't anticipate a 47% drop as posted in Bloomberg channel's report of the NYSE, and will not be indicative of quarterly earnings because AA just notified the press that their pilots age 62+ will be given 3 years Service credit to allow them to be eligible for Social Security benefits.

A similar offer is soon to follow for flight crew members (flight attendants) as management negotiates with government for 365-day interest free loans.

Their commitment will prevent any contraction in this market space before the third quarter bounce back...

AA has what, $30 billion in debt and only paid a $1 billion in just the interest last year so they are in trouble. Instead of investing in better people they bought back stocks which failed anyway as they are now $10 a share! If I was Congress I’d bail them out with condition taxpayers own a sizable chunk of the company and let a bunch of people go so the company can regain profitability and slim down. To take money and pay people not to work is crazy. This company is in debt, poorly managed, and can’t buy themselves out of it. It just needs to be restructured, reduced, or split apart before it goes belly up. Delta and United are in much better shape.

Prudent move by AA. However, I believe you're a bit early and a bit optimistic on AA (AAL). Beyond the fact that not even the so called "experts" and pundits on Wall Street or in economic "Think Tanks" can estimate or predict the fallout of this unprecedented damaged economy and market crash, AA's balance sheet is one of the worst in the sector with massive debt (before the pandemic). Forget that they're going to shed a few pilots and FAs here and there - - that's a minuscule "cost savings" compared to the tsunami of debt they're already accruing on top of their existing debt

Simply stating facts. Research it yourself
