Thread regarding Fidelity Investments layoffs

Give me the pros and cons of each BU

Hi. I’m a Fidelity alumni, trying to help another Fidelity alumni get back in Fidelity. This person is a software engineer who left on their own free will and on good terms some time ago, and is open to returning to the company as a software engineer.

I’d like to know the pros and cons of working in each BU. Please try to list out the pros of each BU in terms of where the most career growth can be.

For all of you who may think it’s best to keep this person away from the firm, not everyone is the same. I personally would like to NEVER set foot in Fidelity again, all due respect. I am aware that Fidelity has its issues like reorgs, false job security, etc. Just list any pros and cons specific to each BU that you can think of which would help someone pick their poison with more information at hand.

Thank you.

@gp, H1B origioned or ancestor-ed. But the point is the same, not a good culture in ET.

ET is probably the least worst but it's now almost entirely staffed by H1Bs. Maybe it's like that in tech everywhere now but the median employee is awful

Stay away from the Client Experience Group which was just merged from FI to Fidelity Wealth. Their RIA service teams are TOTALLY being taken advantage of. Increasing volume and demand from clients, zero add to staff, insanely unfair PTO rules, support groups refusing to help client facing associates. It’s a sh*t show!

I tried to find something even remotely positive about my former department (APS) and couldn’t. Sorry but for me I only found this site because I was so frustrated with my experience and afraid of layoffs. I left about 2 years ago when they started laying off the scrum masters

FFIO has become a place many people feel they should steer clear of. Several teams have seen multiple on the spot resignations because of toxic segment leadership.

I haven’t seen a BU that functions well in years. Managers lost their way and are incompetent. The stress has trickled down to the workers.
