So just survive to service the debt and fund WB and BH stockholders?

The only reason they pay any dividend is because many institutional funds cannot hold non dividend paying stocks so reducing the dividend to zero would trigger institutional dumping of the stock
If the stock goes under $5 then mutual funds and institutional investors are reluctant to hold onto them "penny stocks"

Which sane person wants to hold onto a stock as it goes to zero?

In the meantime stockholders are losing a lot of money in lost dividends. The company needs to convince us ( as shareholders) that the company will have the dividend back and start growth in the next 3 years. Otherwise this is a waste to hold. Actually it is a waste to hold if the price doesn’t improve soon, so maybe we should just dump it. We can always buy back when it starts to move again. Wow, what a .

If oxy manages to continue paying the debt when it’s due, are they protected from bankruptcy? What else could happen? Could the stock go to zero due to lack of confidence even if the debt payments get made? What happens if a stock goes to zero? What happens if a stock goes to under $1 and gets delisted?

Did you mean wrong and not young? Since when does OP age have anything to do with the credibility of the post?

I sure hope you are young OP. I need this job during these tough times, and would not wish any bad for Oxy and the employees.

@goj+17OLmU20 are you a LOXY VP?
Oil prices are in the toilet and will be for a long time until airlines start flying again and this WFH BS is over and people start using their cars and trucks
We have plenty of properties to sell but no buyers and those that are buying are doing so at fire sale prices
Debt restructuring is just that ............. Moving the same debt around hoping to pay less interest for it ..... but its still debt and the principal still needs to be paid
Shareholders are about to lose it all to the guys higher up the pecking order
Employees will be left holding their peckers

Kicking 2021 debt down the road doesn't mean anything -its still debt and it still needs to be repaid

Better start using up all that PTO that will be ‘banked’. If we file for bankruptcy, employees will be in line with all the other creditors trying to get their PTO paid out...good luck with that!

Let the cards fall where they may. It’s too late now. You will all land on our feet. You can’t change stupid. Because...here you are, unfortunately. Chin up O&G. Chin up Oil patch. You weren’t the first to go through this sh–, and you aren’t the last. I’m happy to be retired, but I feel everyone’s pain in the patch that are still working hard. Fighting for your industry, daily. Because of you (you employees), this machine continues to keep moving forward, don’t ever forget that. The employees of this company keep the company going; when everyone leaves, the cards fall, the company falls, the company fails. Don’t ever forget your worth, and your contributions. Without you, this company is done! You’re CEO and BODs will not tell you that. Will your CEO and BODs pick up everyone’s slack when you are gone? Will your VPs, GMs Directors etc pick up the slack? Do they have the capacity to pick up the slack of the assets and the company? Sure, hire off the street, there are plenty, money money money. How much money can they afford to spend? Can Daddy war bucks afford to rehire? Does he want to? Let the cards fall where they may.

Oxy market cap 9b while WES market cap 3b. This is insane. I wouldn’t be surprised if CVX made a play for WES but OXY would have to cut loose of the DJ production to go with. 2021 is going to be about leveraging efficiency.

The main thing here is the shareholders and employees are way down the list. I am a shareholder and employee and if they need to let us go to save the company and protect the shareholders then do it. I would hate to lose my job, but I would hate to my investment more. This company does lack leadership at the top, and seldom do we hear from the top. It would be nice to have more communication from VH and the EC. I don’t think we will see Chapter 11 for a while. Our income is pretty good and we just need to sale some things to shore up the debt. I look for things to be up in the air until we get the new government in place as well. The Colorado properties may be in a bad place for the future with the regulations coming. Good cash flow there, but the govt is going to make it hard to function. Maybe Chevron will pick up those properties since they have the Noble ones now.

What basis do you have for this statement? Oil prices are not bad and there are still plenty of properties to sell. Are you saying this restructuring debt is the easiest and best way to company health. Not for the shareholders who could lose it all.
