Thread regarding ViacomCBS layoffs

Hearing Execs at MTVE Studios Are in the Dark

Have heard execs within the MTVE Studios org have not been told of any plans for a layoff and have not been asked to chose candidates for layoff. This doesn't mean that layoffs aren't happening. In fact, it likely means something much worse, these layoffs could affect a large portion of execs (and maybe their reporting structures) across the sectors. We've been top heavy for so long - it's been brewing for ages.

I work at this company and didn't even know BET awards were happening. Between that and Tony awards last night, tomorrow's date makes sense.

MTVe heavily involved in bet awards on Monday. I imagine they want that to go off without a hitch and then everyone goes

This is true, heard they’re in the dark which everyone knows is not a good sign. I think MTVE knows it could be anyone or, more likely, most. And eventually all.

@gk pretty sure some level of domestic is happening 6/10. Too many rumblings / signs to suggest it’s only international (ie. postponement of community day). WARN reports are sadly not really indicative of anything with this company, they’ve found their workarounds with that. Thinking teams may get a Tuesday WFH “suggestion” on Monday night

I heard today that layoffs will happen on Tuesday 6/10. I'm not seeing anything on the NY Warn reports, so I'm assuming it might hit international. Does anyone know anything else?

There's no way MTVE escapes this time. They are so executive heavy in all the wrong ways. They have FULL channels (TVLand, CMT, and portions of Paramount Network) that are not operating at the level they should be (i.e. not at all for TVLand and CMT) and MTVE isn't taking any steps to rectify. They clearly don't know or understand what the rest of the country (heartland or whatever you wanna call it) needs and wants for content because they still believe it rests with what the coasts want. But that's not where sales and advertising is seeing.

@b2 if they are in the dark that’s bad. at an exec level they should know something is happening and if they don’t then it’s probably happening to them and their teams at scale.

Or it could mean that MTVE and Pepboy CM teams are saved yet again!
