Target has to let people go-- a company cannot take that kind of hit and keep business as usual. You aren't all that special - quit drinking the kool-aid - you are paid to do a job, if that job isn't worth what they are paying you or if it can be replaced with automation then you are not needed. You own your career - NOT Target. They have to look out for the number 1 - MONEY - bottom line. So quit your whining, if you are so worried about your job, get another one. There are plenty of better opportunities in the Minneapolis market where you are not so pre-occuppied with losing your job. Plus, you would probably get a raise as Target is known to pay less than similiar positions.

Target actually does NOT pay more if in merchandising. If you came in from the outside, yeah probably. If you went up through the ranks it doesn't. I got nearly a 30% bump plus consistent 20% bonuses doing retail merchandising at another MN retailer when I left Target. In 5 years have doubled my salary. I enjoyed my time at Target as a young professional, but am much better off having left and wouldn't go back. The culture there can also be quite toxic and you often don't realize how bad it is until you move on and see the more common normal. There are still politics, but nothing as bad as Target.
I agree you don't be an ass. Take your grumpy unhappy individual that you are and go somewhere. You sound like a miserable individual and sure would hate to be in your inner circle.
No need to be an ass.
target pays more than most other retailers if youre in merchandising
I don't think anyone was surprised here. Right?
