Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Just saw a headline: The Escape is being ki-led so that a $30k truck can live

So we are still going all in on EVs? Even though the market has clearly rejected them??

Ford is dead. Sell your stock. This company will not be around unless Billy Jr goes away. Don't really care how he goes just that he does.

I don’t believe that the new EV will be stickers at $30K. Maybe base model but you won’t find those at the dealerships same as you can’t find a $26K Mavericks

I gave up on my 2021 Bronco Sport with 1.5L engine.
9 trips for warranty and recalls with 3 more pending.
I used the PTS system to check the warranty history of a 2022 Escape with the 2.0L engine and so far I like it more than the Bronco Sport.
As for RTO it is obvious a cabal of brain-less id--ts ordered this garbage without any planning.
Five years post Covid and we are served that garbage.

It’s wonderful that they are ki-ling that POS. I had one of those 3 cylinder monstrosities and couldn’t wait to get rid of it. Ford needs to completely rethink how they design and build cars because the junk that they are making now just doesn’t cut it.

@a1

Come on let's not be re--rded about this. Lots of people drive fords. However obviously Ford cannot have a vehicle around that people actually want and buy which is why they're discontinuing the Escape. They have to keep up the consistency of taking away what people want while shoving something at them they do not.

Edge recently, now Escape. In my area many people have been getting Escape, and they like it. It seems to be more expensive that competition, but as with other Ford vehicles, we need to find how to optimize design and manufacturing costs.
What I really want to say is that Ford needs to watch for market share. Has been withdrawing trims, models from markets, and overall losing market share and numbers.

@ce only at Ford, other automakers are hedging their bets as shown in their portfolios. Ford is cancelling gas nameplates core to the industry and replacing with ev, smart move or betting on a specific election outcome?

@OP Why do you ask mo--nic questions like "So we are still going all in on EVs?"

If you actually work in the auto industry, then you know the answer is yes, it has been yes for years.

@OP the Escape is a piece of sh-t car. Go drive a low mileage RAV4, CRV, and Escape, then tell me which one sounds like a rattling shitbox. As an owner of a 2 year old Escape, I would never buy one again.

$30k more like $50K pickup after 10k stealership market.
