Honeywell is furloughing Corporate employees every other week starting on March 30th. I have the first and third week of April. That means a 50% pay cut. And my HRG could not confirm this was for the scoping period of Q2. Most likely to continue.

Fun fact: You cannot claim unemployment until your SECOND consecutive week. Meanwhile, Honeywell is subsidized for retaining employees by the government. Helping only the executives with their 10% cut from their base salary. Public record the CEO of Honeywell makes 15 million on his bonus. Those cuts won't go into effect until 2021.

I have never seen a company treat employees with such little respect. With 10 billion cash in hand they bought back their own stocks.

Whoever wrote the sickening solidarity post Honeywell Strong, please see a counselor as soon as possible.

You are suffering from delusions

To anyone who volunteers for this, please don't do this out of misguided comraderie. If you think not doing it will cost you your job, for the small amount of time you're still employed, then do it.

Do NOT make a personal sacrifice on behalf of a huge, rich company that has no soul.

From #@dxn+148EoWKJ,
I do apologize if it appeared that I was minimizing your situation. That was clearly not my intent. Every other week furloughed sounds like it is going to be a harsh reality for a lot of people and for that, I am truly sorry. #glass.half.full, All of Q2 will probably feel like an eternity. Please keep in mind, that while I was there, all of Honeywell felt like family. And my random acts of kindness went a long way. So, in the coming furloughed weeks, reach out to one another and IF YOU HAVE THE MEANS, try to help out (fellow Associates) that may just have it a little more tougher than you. Pay it forward guys. #HONEYWELL STRONG

@dxn+148EoWKJ, it does not sound like 1 week, but every other week for at least all of Q2. That is at least 7 weeks. Don't know how unemployment works for repetitive one week periods like that.

WOW........In a way, this will give folks a breather from the stress of having to work in a "coronavironment". YES, it stinks, but Geesh folks......Which is the lesser of the 2 evils? There was outrage about having to go to work during the crisis, now there appears to be outrage about having to stay away......Sure, 1 week of unemployment benefits may feel like a punch in the gut for some. But if people got Rif'd, I'm sure that would probably feel more like a kick in the A$$! Again, a choice between the lesser of 2 evils........The fear, frustration, and anger is understandable, and I'm glad folks can use this site to exorcise some of it, as well as feel the camaraderie from those that feel the same. Hopefully, the situation will turn around very soon, and the furlough will get lifted. Keep in mind, Honeywell IS NOT THE ONLY COMPANY that has to take such actions. In some small way, everyone either felt, suspected or knew what was coming down the pipeline. So for now, take this time, (after you get things out of your system) and enjoy family, binge watch your favorite past time, do some gardening (when the weather breaks) or whatever makes you happy. Simply put, if you were at work, you wouldn't be able to do these things during the 9 to 5. Try to take advantage of the positive outcomes from this crisis. And if you can, try to limit your time here. It is a breeding ground for..........................
Y'all are going to hear a lot of positivity coming from me on this site. If it makes you want to "barf" then get on with it and come on back for some happy thoughts!
Thanks (Not from HR) And I suspect, that the more I'm on here, the more people are going to figure out who I am. If you guess, I WILL own up to it!

For those in Phx. Unemployment tips:

  • Its easy to do online. "Hardest" part is faxing in a form.
  • The 1st week after you claim, its not paid.

You can only get paid starting on week 2.
So apply the very 1st day you can or you get nothing.

  • with a 2 week furlough, you will only get 1 week of benifits. The benefit is likely $240 for that week and comes on a visa card.
  • You can not be paid unless you tried to seek employment on 4 different days of the week. You log into the web site and record what you did. So just post your resume to some web site 4x that week. (Indeed, Monster, etc)

People talking about the "greed" of executives while they display their own without shame. Our customers are not flying, millions of people in all industries being let go, and people cant see past their own lives to be grateful to still have a job, and healthcare instead of seeing co-workers let go at a terrible time to find new employment.

There are many things wrong at HON, but nothing particularly unique. What I see here is entitlement without a personal sense of responsibility. No one is making you stay, and I have a feeling 50% of these negative posters would do the same no matter where they worked or how a company treated them. I hope you do eventually vote with your feet to leave, or find the courage to speak up when it matters, but complaining about taking two weeks unpaid instead of seeing layoffs is tone deaf and myopic.

The money in the bank was not yours, nor was it ever going to be. You trade your time for a paycheck, and if you choose to invest in the stock then you see the returns. HON has many opportunities and areas it can improve the way it treats employees, and adapt to the times, but this was a limited and restrained step we should be proud of given the level of layoffs at other companies.

Hyatt Chief Executive Officer Mark Hoplamazian and Chairman Tom Pritzker aren’t taking salaries during the furlough period, the spokesman said. The rest of the company’s senior leadership team is taking a 50% pay cut, and the money saved from executive salaries will seed a fund to help employees.

Hotel executives aren’t going unscathed. Mr. Sorenson and board Chairman Bill Marriott have stopped receiving a salary during this period, the CEO said in the video. His executive team will take a 50% cut in salary. Hyatt CEO Mark Hoplamazian and chairman Tom Pritzker are also forgoing salaries though May, the Hyatt spokeswoman said.

  • - -

Do you think Honeywell would do that?? Doubt it! They do 10% pay cut for execs while the rest of the company employees get their 2020 merit increases stripped away and 50% effective pay cut in April (and probably in May and June too) and the company keeps its 10B in cash reserves for some buybacks and M&A.

Honeywell - you are a joke of a company. You can bet you’ll get the minimum from me and many others while we wait for coronavirus to die down and look for other jobs.

These are uncharted times. Many suppliers and customers wont make it through. This is an obvious step to save jobs. We have to understand that in these times. I would rather take furlough than lose job. Plus I'm from the UK where per the country laws it's not mandatory. I'm still going to stand in solidarity with the US and those who dont have a choice and take the full 10 days to share the burden. Hopefully we will look back on this blip

Given the state of the economy, I fear this may be the tip of the iceberg.

We should be happy we have any kind of jobs...

I wish I was working for the governement now, that's the only safe type of jobs nowadays.

Good luck all.

This is just the start. There will be continued furloughs and RIFs for the remainder of 2020. There's nothing HON loves more than taking money from the workers via furloughs and keeping it for themselves. How Noble for mke mdsen to take a 10% pay cut this year! I guess now he will only have to make do with 950k instead of his normal salary. I hope he'll be ok.
