I was in the semiconductor industry for 25 years, made my exit thanks to GF. I've seen the best of days and worst of days in the industry as a whole. Have worked for 3 major chip makers and a few equipment suppliers. With that said, I can confidently say that GF has never really been committed to making a great product or advancing the industry/technology further than the batch/yield/cost mentality. It was simply part of an investment fund run by some of the most low to mid tier leadership. This has fostered a very toxic work environment & a high attrition rate among GF employees. Eventually GF will be purchased and the branding changed. But it still won't escape the hard truth that chip making in the US is not desirable and increasingly less profitable. Asia/India do it better and cheaper, period. The CHIPS act is nothing more than a subsidy to keep some plants operating and with trump chainsawing things, likely CHIPS act will be canceled, reduced or even put on ice until the next admin comes in. I'd say to those 35 and younger, jump ship find a new industry. 35 and over, hang around, ride the swirling vortex down the wrapper and hope for the best.
When you have a bunch of clowns running the circus, don't expect much for results!!
They are very qualified to do the job,
You just didn't realize what their job was, That job is to sell off the pieces of GFS.

to paraphrase that famous country song by kenny Rogers "The Gambler"..
🎵 gotta know when to short 'em, know when to long 'em, know when to sell 'em, know when to run 🎵
Why would anyone have any confidence in GF's future? TB has no semiconductor knowledge, doesn't understand what they do at all. The CTO GB failed at Freescale and he has no technical vision, he too doesn't even understand how devices work. We have key people in key positions who technically are not qualified to do the job. There should be no surprise when the stock plummets each time, consumer confidence is way down on GF and it should be given the current leadership team.
It should have always been $25.00
Wait until the Chips act is cut lol
