Citi is doing good financially. It might cull the contractors and some extra fats acquired during the consent order program. Hardly 500-1000 employees will be max affected.
On the other hand its time for promotions for lots of VP to SVP and SVP's to Directors.

The below also works if you've been passed over for promotions.
If Citi or your manager are treating you like or think you're Not worthy of being promoted, then act like it. If they think you don't have the skills or knowledge to be promoted, then act like it. DoNOT share skills, knowledge or information with your any of your coworkers, especially those who got promoted instead of you!
"Citi, be careful of what you wish for. You just might get it!".
The 4 D's of NOT "cross-training" or "training" your replacements or coworkers under the pretense of Citi's excuse "just in case you're on vacation or out sick", to delay or prevent Your Layoff, or if you're getting Laidoff regardless at least throw Wrenches and Sabotage Citi's plans since they're Fvcking You Over:
Delay and Stall telling them your techniques, trade secrets, trouble-shooting methods, details of your job.
Deny having any knowledge or skills to do your job. You need to get Amnesia and play Dvmb.
Defend your !gnorance. You can't divulge what you don't know. You can't tell them what you don't know.

Promotions??? Citi is Broke AS$ Poor and financially struggling.
If it's Not IN-seat, it's NOT a promotion. Then it's a New job. You can Not be a little bit pregnant. Lamps/lights can Not be both on And off. This is a binary and mutually exclusive situation.
Don't let any employer sell you the BullSh!t excuse "You can get promoted if you apply for a new job." This is an oxymor0n contradiction.

Prior to year 2021 Citi was IN-seat Promoting up to 40% of employees who were eligible for or seeking promotions. That % was reduced to 20% between 2021 to 2023, reduced to 15% in 2024, reduced to 5% in 2025.
My MD stated very clearly during meetings that thousands of employees will be and are passed over for promotion, who would've made the cut in prior years, including hundreds or thousands of Rated 1s-2s employees.
Only financially struggling companies do the above. They also continue to stall and dangle the promotion carrot to Svckers, hoping those star employees don't Quit.
After a while, after being bypassed for promotions more than once, Citi is The Boy Who Cried Wolf. Employees Stop believing, they give up and employees start their exit strategies, interviewing externally & at least do a passive if not active job search.

Promotion at Citi is a joke. Only the favorite of managers will be promoted.
Citi Ethics is a joke. They either do not read the complaints or willfully ignore them. That department is just for the namesake and they probably cause more damage to the victims..
It's time for firing people again. Stock needs to go up! Someone need to make more money while others struggle to feed their families and children!
No meaningful raises or promotions or even team backfills. Just told to do more with less using half baked AI tools and be grateful not RIF'd. All while executives cheer about record breaking profits and stock price.
