@pf exactly, D1-LTD-PTD has been a s-hitshow for 20 years and their version of "copy exactly" is the reason that Intel is where it is now. Gelsinger's baby is not going to emerge fully formed to save the day and the nursery was looted decades ago.
LBT just needs enough heads to keep the lights on while he reanimates the corpse.

@gb
Because they haven't been successful shipping in volume with actual products 5nm, 3nm, or 2nm they will go on in the dark fumbling with 18a and 14a because they have no data, learning, or experience manufacturing the larger nodes. It's kinda like putting a dog into space 🚀 and then setting up your next mission sending astronauts to Mars to setup a base. Folly!

@hd

1) Where are the 2nm 3 nm 5nm 7nm manufacturing products?
Intel buys them from TSMC

2) Why do you think the 18A and 14A can be successfully now in just a few months?
Because that's the plan

@g2 D1 is a mess right now. It’s never been this bad. Perhaps Hr should take notice or Foundry is at risk.

The way it’s looking from the eng POV is that the final HC will be reached via constructive discharge. So many engs are feeling the pressure of unrealistic demands and deadlines. All of a sudden those with meets/exceeds are now not meeting. Interesting how that happens when there’s several thousand more heads to roll.

Seems clear that the work conditions are making any reasonable person want to leave.

Leadership keeps making bad decisions while saving their own jobs and putting Intel at further risk.

I know 35K heads were cut off and threw at layoff offices around the world for stupid mis-management practices. 75K heads with sharp knifes put right next to their necks to be cut off at anytime soon. Another 15K each year required to be RTO and shave their hairs to be skin heads or facing next round of layoffs.

It is Intel secret that can manipulate the stock price. Why do want to know the number OP? You will never get the correct number (period)

@b6
Not necessarily, given recent announcements. It's entirely possible that number may grow to 80k.

So, more heads will roll. That's all you had to say. More heads will roll.

OP, you can always find this information in the latest earnings release available on intc.com

As of 27 Sept 25, Intel has 83.3K employees and its subsidiaries have 5.1k. See page 6 of the pdf download.

Hopefully @ab will be one of the 8.3k that need to be removed by the end of the year to hit the 75K target.
