Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Advice for the new folks

If you are full of ideas and energy, this might not be the place for you. The system here slows everything down with endless layers of approval. Unless you have friends in high spots, your voice will never reach the right people. You are better off taking that drive somewhere that lets you actually build something. Exxon is not it.

@g5 don’t be a dum--ss. if you are assessed NSI 3 times in any 5 year rolling period you automatically get PIL. You don’t “get PIP’d”. If you are assessed as NSI you choose to choose PIP or PIL. If you are assessed as NI in the first 3 years of employment you get to choose PIP or PIL.

@OP you realize there is a yearly PIP quota to cut employees. I think if you get PIP’d in your first 5 years you are automatically history..

As someone who is full of ideas be prepared for others to steal them and give you zero credit. It has happened so many times to me that I have lost count. Really makes me angry.

There are layers of limp d*ck management and pervasive "that's not how we've always done it" mentality, which is frustrating. If you aren't afraid of getting PIP'd then just do your thing.

@ad unfortunately this is so true. I'm 45 and already feel so out of touch with the world.
