Thread regarding Charles Schwab Corp. layoffs

Termination procedures

I see a few posts by people who resigned…

What was your experience?

What determines if the notice period ends right away or if you stay for the term?
(Is the different for rto vs full remote employees)

What obligations do you have to say if you a resigning for personal matters/another job/etc?

What is the procedure for returning equipment?

Any info appreciated

I resigned last September due to RTO (took a fully remote job with another firm). Was required to work my 2 weeks. Got an email exit survey but no exit interview. Was mailed a box to ship my supplies back in.

Maybe if you need Green Card through Schwab. I know a guy on H1B came back to a different team. I don't know why anyone would come back to this sh!t h0le otherwise tbh.

If you leave for another brokerage firm do they not allow you to finish your two weeks?

Also make sure you can access ADP outside of being employed with Schwab. Go to myadp to register with your personal email and create a password if you haven't already, so you can access once no longer employed. I would also call Health Equity, now Wage Works to ask them any questions you may have about how Cobra works if you are going that route. Maybe speak to your employee financial advisor to inquire about fees you will be charged once not with Schwab, assuming you do not move your money somewhere else as soon as you retire.
You'll also know be charged a mlm monthly maintenance fee if you have the HSA, consider moving it possibly.

I didn’t need anything afterwards. Just make sure your address is correct in Workday and all your stuff will come there. Cobra info, 401k info, your W2 next year if you were receiving a paper copy.

Please note that per the Schweb, 2 weeks notice is appreciated but it is not required.

I resigned late last year, I called my manager to tell her then sent her an email advising that I was resigning and what my last day would be. I did stay on the full 2 weeks.

You are not obligated to tell them why you’re leaving, trust me, Schwab wants people to leave, they couldn’t care less why. That’s absolutely a personal preference, I was cool with my manager so I told her but you are under no obligation to do so.

They will mail you a box with instructions on how to return your equipment.

As noted below you will get an email from HR which is an exit survey, I also had HR follow up on my comments but I never responded. I didn’t see a point in responding because if they didn’t care while I was employed there I’m positive they don’t care now.

I’m happy you’re getting out of that cesspool! Congratulations to you! It’s been amazing for me!

Is there any documents or info that you needed afterwards?

Things that can’t be retrieved after end date

I resigned back in January. I expected they wouldn't have me work my notice period, so I gave notice on a Friday and started my new job the following Monday. Welllllll they had me work my notice period, so that backfired a bit, but I managed. I think that ultimately depends on your role and your manager. They wanted me during my notice period because I had some significant work needed in order to handover a project I had been managing on my own.

You are under no obligation to tell them any details about why you are leaving or where you are going. Only share what you feel comfortable sharing.

They will send you boxes with instructions on packaging/returning your equipment. It was pretty easy/straightforward and I believe you have 30 days to return it.

HR doesn't do an exit interview like I have at other companies. They send out an exit survey via email you can fill out. I was very honest in my exit survey and then HR started emailing me wanting to explore my comments further. I never responded as I didn't want to waste my time and didn't think that would go anywhere or do anything.
