I know a few people who are stewards just for the reason of not getting laid off.
Union here!
The bird is the word bud.
If you haven’t ever noticed, the union updates it’s members roughly 3 days to a week after the media announces sh– followed by the company email. Then there’s rumors and every other know-it-all putting their 2 cents on it. Then the union says “oh sh–...we gotta say something! I was too busy counting member dues to care.”
As of now, the union hall still says “well according to the media reports recently, there could be some layoffs coming but I wouldn’t believe it till it’s mentioned.”
So take it with a grain of salt....while they don’t wanna spread rumors or false info, they also know more than what they say. And they ain’t sayin’ sh– until the other guy calls it first.

On be half of the IAM union... we want to first thank you for your patience & understanding in this hardship of time. First things first, you have to go to work. Make that money, so you can pay your dues on time! The state is opening up in June, we need to eat too! Our fat azzes aren’t getting any thinner time soon. All thanks to your hard work!
