Directv layoffs 10% workforce

Today word is a 10% reduction in employees by Jan 20 2023.

They purposely releveled everybody so they could make the 10% of management sound appealing. Really those 10% were worker bees.

Directv was already running with skeleton team. I am surprised they have people to get rid of ?

Woke up in the morning with a message that they will layoff 10% of their management workforce due to “difficulties” they face.
True leadership, way to go!

@fxu DTV hired employees at a lower salary than yours knowing when it was time to layoff the higher salaried employees would go first and 18 months would have been enough time for a meaningful knowledge transfer.

Makes me wonder why Directv went on a hiring or-y 18 months ago when TPG picked us up. I asked then why so much hiring for a company destined to become irrelevant inside of five years. I guess we hired up so we could lay off. No more balloons and t-shirts on Workplace for you!

Correct. 7 of us in my immediate org have been impacted. My last day is 1/20.
