Thread regarding Ford layoffs

For those terminated, what does Ford reveal for future background checks?

Got terminated last week after several years of experience starting out as a GSR8 and being a LL6 about 3 years ago. I'm curious - does anybody know if Ford reveals eligibility for rehire or terminated with casuse?

I think @OP is asking what external employers would see in a background check upon getting fired at Ford - if termination for cause and/or eligibility for rehire would appear. NOT necessarily looking to go back to Ford

Ford ain’t the government. Your time spent incarcerated here will thankfully not show up on a background check.

The bigger question is, why in the world would you want to return to Ford?

With an "Involuntary Seperation" I don't think there is anything precluding you from returning. This happened to me recently and there was nothing in the documentation stating either way. Not sure how that applies to LL positions though.

The actual answer to the OP's question: Ford policy is to only confirm that you worked here. The circumstances of your departure and eligibility for rehire are not to be shared. Whether your management chooses to follow the policy is just a guess, particularly if they know the person asking.

@db They’ve lived so long abuse as an organizing principle that it feels safe to them and they want to get back to safety.

  • or-
They became accustomed to collecting a paycheck for just existing that they can’t tolerate work elsewhere. I saw that happen with a non-supervisory LL6, post Ford his new employer required him to work one weekend a month to do system upgrades. This is pretty standard in the IT field. Also he was on call one week a month. The guy quit after two months as it was just too much work. He never got another IT job. He kept trying to get back to the mother ship.

This....so tired of the low IQ questions that people should know. Doubtful the scenario is truthful. But people have been known to just stumble through life managing to simply fail upwards by sheer luck. Looks like that's what we have here.

@OP Here is a prime example., three years as an LL6 and Yet Still Clueless if one can get rehired after being terminated?

Did you have actual employees, were you one of those who had one employees working under them or just given the title. A great example of exactly "what is wrong with this company!"

My current boss, two years now being a supervisor is also 100% clueless just like you, just sits there hiding out on his laptop, doing what, no one knows.

What low-horsepower staff do we have that don't know the basic essentials of the job! Sound we're running a social program, not a build some quality vehicle programs.

The GSR's are forced to take class after class to make us better engineers, did management not have to learn anything, take anything, read a rulebook, know a policy or two, what the heck does our management do? A prime case of a betterment for the company to get rid of folks whom do not know the basics after three years!

What was the "termination with cause", head-in-the-air / a$$ I'm a manager, look at me? ID10T problem we see. Just what group were you leading?

M<y God man, take a look in the mirror and ask yourself if you're really asking these types of questions on this internet site. Did you not make a management friend or two in the clouds that could answer your question?

@OP

Remind me why we are talking about rehire here? Is this another case of having sympathy for your abuser? Why are some people on this board so unwilling to leave Ford behind?

If you are asking about what Ford reveals to future employers checking your background, then the answer from Ford is your employment dates. Ford people leaders are advised not to give references.
Be advised that you should NOT let your prior Ford people leaders know where you are interviewing. More than one person has had Ford people leaders call up their potential employers and bad mouth them. Some even bad mouth you to your new employers after you are gainfully employed elsewhere.

If you are a m0r0n they will document that and share that information.

Not eligible for rehire. Supposedly also not eligible for contract work either, however, first hand experience to know that the contract work part is false. The LL4+ can easily make a case for bringing back for contract work. Bringing back as employee is rarely done as legal and HR gets involved.

Involuntary termination means HR and director sign off to bring back. Rarely if ever happens.
