One year ago today, I had my 15-minute TU layoff meeting. Thought I'd check to see what's up here. I feel sorry for my co-workers still at TU. It was already getting difficult to get anything done when I left, and I doubt it's gotten better. For me, 4 month's severance, 2 more months stretching funds/savings, then landed a better job with better pay. It is not the end of the world. For me, it was a blessing. Looking back, don't know why I worried so much. Best advice, save like you're getting laid off tomorrow, even in the best of times when things are going great. Corporate America has no loyalty. Look out after yourself at all times.

I was laid off in the first round last year. Took me 6 months to find another job that pays more. I'm maxing out my Roth 401k and Roth IRA for the current year. Also I'm planning to create a side hustle income stream as well. We can't count on Corp America any more. Don't be stuck in your job, your industry, your profession, your state, or even country. Be flexible and ready to move to where you're valued and appreciated.
@3qcf+1vmUl3Ep hang in there. A better door will open. The mental clarity after time will clear up and you will be much better place. We just didn't know how toxic TransUnion was to us because we were committed and felt we were all helping the company by working everyday and night. I hope all is well.
Why do all the ex's keeping back on this site. Be happy you out of this place. Most of us are begging to be let go so we can get a severance package. I love to quit this place I put in too many years to just quit incase there is another round of layoffs in the future. I have personally asked my manager to lay me off. Leadership listened to a voice who said GCC could do it all and we are finding out less and less gets done. Application don't work, more issues, more bridge calls - this place su-ks. If you want to be heard go out to Linkedin, Zip Recruiter etc and let your voice be heard. Why come back to this site and bring up the past experiences. For those who found something congratulations and for those still looking your day will come, a door will open. But like @fwld+1vmUl3Ep said there is loyalty anymore and you should treat companies the same way. Look how TransUnion just laid you off, no two week notice but we are told we should, why? You got no notice - they only want the two weeks so they can get started looking for your replacement or offload your work with another team member while that person will make the same money and get 2% raise if they lucky.
@3yvt+1vmUl3Ep that’s ok. Mental health and peace of mind over pay. Sometimes we get greedy. Nothing beats managing YOUR time. Hopefully people got laid off by this toxic environment learned a valuable lesson. Managing your time over any company. Unless you own the company not really worth getting worked about work. As TU should us. They picked up and moved on and from what I see in LinkedIn and other sites Transunion is complete trash and nothing getting done. Glad you found something and are happy.
I had a DEI director as well and went to HR multiple times on her attitude and what happened I was let go. HR works for management not for end users.
Same situation. I was looking for a new job while at TU. Had few interviews. October got a email by director after hours and thought what she want she never talked to me before. Logged on she gave me 2 min and HR said position is not available anymore. I was like which one? lol. 20 + years. 5 minute severance, cobra and some group will contact me about resume builder. I will continue to get paid until Nov and any bonus I will get in March. Hang up. Logged off turn the phone off. My direct reports didn’t even know the whole team was laid off. What a blessing. A blessing. Like I said I was already looking and trying to get out of he-l I mean TU. 10 days later Offer letter. Got paid until November. Got a hefty severance package and medical in November. Started my new gig making more In December with better holidays and bonus. Got my bonus in March. Peace TU. I won!
As someone who was let go with no notice at all besides an email from my director the night prior to my dismissal and of course I worked the night prior from 11pm - 2am to join a call with her and HR rep. You lucky to get 15 minutes. After 20 + years of my life TransUnion gave me 5 minutes. My director stayed on the phone for 2 minutes. Not like others I found a job right away since I was looking for summer of 2023.
I found a job with better holidays, better pay, great hours and bigger, better bonus program. 12% bonus coming March 2025. Already a promotion in my first 6 months because I am that great at getting my job done. I got to pocket my Thanksgiving severance and medical. Pay off debt, opened IRA and open high yield interest savings and watch my money grow. Even got myself a DVC with the medical money that was left to me so I can take vacation with my family on TU.
Good luck to those who are falling on the sword for that toxic work culture. Those who weeks are wrapping up soon and those still looking I pray that something comes soon.
TransUnion is just a mental waste. Karma!
Agree.
Long "anticipation" does way more mental damage than you'd think.
I feel it myself.
Everyone - have a plan. And take care.
Speaking of mental health. As someone that is still waiting for them to let me go, it's certainly taken a toll on my life. It's not an if, but when.
It's been a year for me also. Couldn't be happier!!! No more having a manager and her manager yelling at me (literally) constantly. HR did nothing to them. I have a new position and had to take a cut in pay, but it has totally been worth it! Mental health and peace of mind are priceless.
to @map+1vmUl3Ep: you id--t.
It will be America first going forward. You will not have to go through something like that again.
