Performance rating is BS and it is manipulated. All corporations are moving away from this rating

My team all got a 1% raise and same bonus as last year. Our managers rated top performers 2-2-3’s and at the last minute leadership forced them to DROP ALL RATINGS to 3-3-3 regardless of performances and exceeding sales goals. So it’s all a lie so they can justify giving us no raises. Our managers all felt bad but their hands were tied. The whole thing is shady, unmotivating and disappointing. ok don't give us raises, but don’t dismiss and lie about how much blood, sweat and tears we put into our jobs last year. It’s a slap in the face and plain dishonest.

Considering that med insurance premium went up $100-250 per check, only those who don't hold insurance through C can claim they got 2% increase :) C is shifting the burden from it's cost base onto employees

BAU keep the lights on whether you are in exchange, SAN, Networking, etc….. will always get a smaller bonus compared a revenue generators. It doesn’t matter how good you are, how smooth you have things run or how well you forecast to avoid outages. Its always been this way. If you bring in the big bucks, you get a larger slice of the pie.

Keep in mind that if you are in aml or a cost center, you wont get a big bonus as you are not creating money for the bank…

I was a c12/b/11 aml analyst in tampa and only got a 2% increase in pay and bonus with a 3…

Congrats, 2% increase and 5% bonus for 3-3 is very good considering the vey high base AVP/VP/SVP in technology and implies those with 2-2 got much better. Very nice

Post ID: @ftk+1qCuCB0D : HR and Comp and Ben have tables for increase and bonus - and they look the number based on your rating, which is determined by your MD/HR, based on the proposed rating by your direct manager. So indirectly both are determined by your direct manager and MD. But also your increase and bonus will depend on your current total comp - if you are close to the upper limit of your grade band you might get smaller % increase in total comp.

Who decides your raise and bonus? Is it your direct manager or is it above them?

VP in Tech in NAM. Rating was 3-3-3. Been at Citi for 14 months. Got 2% raise and 5% bonus. Wondering what Citi gave out last year in my situation?

Post ID: @sln+1qCuCB0D : Up to MD it depends highly on which part of the bank are you in. It may go from 5% for VP in Tech to 30% for VP in Risk to 100% for a VP in IB. For MDs things become more equal - there even tech MDs get around 100% bonus, Risk MD get 100% also, IB or trading MDs can get up to 150-200% in exceptionally good years.

What's the typical bonus for VP, SVP, Director, MD?

I have heard all sorts of things (VP here) so just wondering.

Post ID: @cgp+1qCuCB0D : I agree, we should not make fun. But also we need to get an estimate of the current % of the bonus. Stating only that one is an AVP/VP/etc. and % does not make sense because an VP in operations might get only 5%, whereas in ICG Risk this can be 30% and in IB probably 100% ... That is why people are surprised when a VP says they got only 3%. No one is trying to insult anybody I guess...

Hey Guys and Gals,
Let's not say negative things about other people's bonus amounts. If it seems small to you, keep it to yourself. No need to make others feel bad, especially if you already make more than they do. Show some class and grace

VP
2% base increase, bonus is lower compared to last year and totals about 5% of the base

I think big boss already know. You can feel when you talk to them. So depends on if you are in the group being chopped off

3% increase on bonus. 2% increase on base pay. Rate 3,2,2.

Calm down, the person shared what they got, so relax. Citi is famous for giving lower raises and bonuses. It is common knowledge. At least the person got something

Post ID: @cli+1qCuCB0D would not be surprised. Welcome to post-2008 finance, where VPs total comp is similar to a mid-ranking HR's comp at a startup 😂

Post ID: @mpk+1qCuCB0D: It is company-wide. Same with Deutsche Bank - they pay higher base and lower variable. For JP and GS makes more sense to be able to control the variable expenses...

Post ID: @qjc+1qCuCB0D

Btw, it is total comp what matter - I know for a fact that JPM and GS pay smaller base and larger bonus. So total comp is more or less the same...

So im assuming that as a vp, you are in the 100k range, so you got about a 2k raise and a 3k bonus, which is about 2200 less taxes…

Well, thats citi for you. I mean, yeah, there pay well, but bonus/merit pay stinks…
