@kr oh i absolutely am, i'm not going to netflix but i'm headed to faang. the compensation difference is insane - i'm getting a 50k base salary boost + RSU's which i wasn't getting at paramount + hefty relocation + sign-on bonus. TC ends up being a little under double of what paramount was giving me.
Don’t fool yourselves, massive layoffs are around the corner. Try hard to pivot out of entertainment DE will ki-l this industry. He doesn’t know what it takes to run a Studio & will run both of these iconic Studios into the ground.
If you’ve thought of moving out of state
do it. Find a new path, this is not longer viable.
@kr Ugh, I hate those companies with so many reviews. I also hate the ones that take Agile so serious. They expect everyone to become Agile experts, even SWE's. Agile is one skill I do not give a rats a-s about.
@ft Firstly, you aren't getting "almost double pay raise" and secondly if you are off to Netflix, enjoy your 180 reviews and the constant risk of layoff for falling in the bottom 20%
@jq Ok. Bye
@fn The whole streaming industry is cr-p for employees. Healthcare is much more stable. That's where I'm headed after I get my bonus.
@ft We all are
@fp netflix is definitely better lol. i'm not the person you were replying to but i am in fact taking my bonus and leaving, thank you very much :)
i'll take my almost double pay raise from my new job.
@ed Well take your bonus and leave. I promise you, no other media company is currently better!
@fk So, whats the answer? DisneyABC lay offs, NBC Layoffs, A&E layoffs, WBD Layoffs, Fox Layoffs. Para layoffs, Mergers, layoffs. No mergers, layoffs. People keep blaming DE and JS and I'm not saying they have blame but they aren't the only ones.
@fc I struggle with this too. We all know it's not great working here at the moment and many people say they were waiting for their bonus to leave, whether they do leave is another thing. But yeah, why is anyone activity wanting the company to fail? I don't get it.
@fc "Huge layoffs and no payoffs" is the David Ellison/Jeff Shell/Redbird mantra. It's willfully, blissfully ignorant to think that this is not the protocol no matter what the outcome. HE DOES NOT CARE ABOUT ANYONE OR ANYTHING EXCEPT BEING SEEN AS A POWER PLAYER. We are all irrelevant to him, and we are all doomed one way or the other.
Look, we all dislike what is happening here, but I'm really struggling to understand why people working here are actively looking for it to fail. Don't we want a job? I do. Yes, it was great working here like 10 years ago, money was no issue, but every media company is sh-t to work for at the moment. Merger or no merger isn't going to make it better. If you think Netflix buying WBD is the best option, you haven't thought it through. What do you think is going to happen to Paramount if they don't get WBD or a similar company? We are all fu---d. Huge layoffs and no payoffs.
This company is toast
@af uhhh It's public info. The 6B is what Paramount themselves listed a while back with their bid
Love that you didn’t mention that it’s Netflix predicting that. Of course there will be layoffs. But this extreme number is just a scare tactic.
@a8 It's significantly more cuts than if Netflix wins
Someone said something previously relating to job cuts if the merger goes through, but it is common sense that people will be cut. Nothing in that article is surprising. Terrible, yes. But not surprising.
No kidding Sherlock
