Thread regarding SAP layoffs

Three interviews and a take home assignment, then a generic rejection email

I'm exhausted. I feel like I'll be stuck at SAP for good - or until I'm laid off - because the job market is atrocious.

@m5 keep the faith. Just remember that getting certified as a scrum master required open book, online deep breathing exercises while regurgitating the Scrum Manifesto. Skills are skills. That was less than ten years ago. Breaking big problems into small problems and solving them still matters more than LinkedIn “likes”.

You only need one YES so keep going and do not give up! Anything worthwhile is hard to attain so keep at it!

@OP I'm reassured that I'm not the only one in this situation.
Since I'm coming from the OnPrem world, I didn't understand why I'm not interviewed...
I'm thinking is it age discrimination (50s) or just the software development market that is shrinking

Still enhancing my strategies because what worked before (Java,C++,Python,Jascript..etc) doesn't seems to work anymore...

Recruiters don't want to give some reasons of rejection that would help for the future applications which makes it difficult to update the strategy

@d1 couldn't agree with you more. Some people fail more than others try.

You need to keep trying, not lose hope, and not take failure personally. Something will come up. It always does.

@fr you need to understand the underlying root cause. They are concerned about themselves and the next generation. There is not enough wealth to share, not enough saving to accumulate like in the past, the manufacturing jobs are gone. Instead of blaming the system, low tax to rich and else, it is easy that they think once immigration stops, they will have dramatic boost on income. Look at Brexit, they kicked out the immigrants from EU, did they have the prosperity they expected, Naaah. I can understand the frustration and how the politicians channel it to immigration to create the evil.

Jobhunting can be disheartening, but it's also a numbers game.
Just like sales.
Don't focus on what hasn't panned out, just keep plugging away, putting in as many hours and as much effort as you can, to finding that next role.

You can do it, no matter what type of job market is happening.
Keep applying, double or triple the amount of applications you complete each day.
Even without using Aiiiii make your goal to be at least 10 applications out each day.

Try different ways of looking and networking, too.
Best of luck to you!

@OP you’ll land one soon! look at the SAP ecosystem, they will appreciate your SAP expertise and the scale of operations. Look at platforms that will make SAP obsolete.

US is already fixing the immigration problem. UK is next after seeing the spectacular Reform comeback in the local council elections. When AfD is in power in Germany, SAP will reach its heights again.
