Thread regarding ViacomCBS layoffs

Any idea how extensive the layoffs might be?

It seems the general consensus is that they’ll affect the entire company. But do we have any sense of how many people could be impacted? I’m worried this round might be even worse than the one in September.

ALL SVps know the names already- they can’t have this affect the BET award show tonight. Same thing happened with the Super Bowl in February.

@km curious how this works, managers at what level? Does the SVP get told they need to cut and they give the orders to their VPs who manage teams under them?

I guess only managers who are safe for this round have been notified..

this was August - manager notified before weekend and a meeting:notes with HR to go over procedure - my boss went through this
Tues email or message sent to employee for a quick meeting and you know its you.

I think September was done by waiting for email bc it was so massive after an all division type meeting

concerned about lack of info - we knew aug and sept were coming - even percentages

I only hear things on this page ... posts have said under GC- not sure what division under him
Streaming Nick and Production so i guess that's company wide ..

Any team or division heads that have been notified they are doing the actual layoffs Tuesday ? seems like last time they got a little HR training before

Nobody knows anything.

But honestly I’m preparing for this to be the nail in my coffin.

The vibe is that it’s about to be another serious bloodbath.

@a7 my boss says they don’t know if layoffs will impact our team but they did say they are happening on Tuesday and they essentially gave us the option to come in to the office or WFH.

@ed CM is not directing streaming at all. I don't know about DD, but I know VH org will be hit but again, small in comparison to September.

a commenter that seems to be knowledgeable says it's not as big as september which was i think 1000 or so US employees
I saw two diff posts - TR is out / even someone saw a statement ready - how about VH or DD organizations? Tech and Marketing
is CM directing the streaming portion?

As usual, the waiting game is terrible.
There was some specific info in the last posts on severance that could be helpful to us.

Why can’t I remember anything in September? The ones I remember were last August 13th. Nick marketing alone lost over 100 staffers. They were massive. Yet I don’t remember anything in September?

The cuts coming next week are absolutely driven from the CEOs and related to under performing in the ad market. They are definitely not going to be as big as September was. That being said once the mu---r happens, I would expect some bigger layoffs.

last time the ceo comms came in august and laid out numbers and timeline - aug then sept maybe that will come soon

big titles seem to announce themselves

Do they want teams remote on Tuesday and after - has anyone been told that?

my boss was in on SD meetings and it was clear they wanted to cut costs - even annoyed when they found out some areas were so slimmed down already and one person covering multiple roles - that there was no room to cut if you wanted to do business

I am wondering if this is part of that cut taken on by the current CEOS

the WSJ is the only article i have seen confirming "major layoffs june"

Everybody knew last time because somebody asked in the Town Hall and they admitted it. There is no Town Hall this time for anyone to ask, or for them to give any visibility.

@OP I’m also wondering what it’ll be like. I was thinking it might be smaller than the one in Sept. I’m in the office today and was just chatting with colleagues, some people didn’t even know layoffs are coming. Back in September it seemed everyone was talking about it and there were multiple articles etc. but not this time. So maybe it’s not really company wide?
