Thread regarding Optum layoffs

Breathe

I know today is scary as he-l, but it will improve. Every single person I know who was laid off over the last few years (and I know quite a few of them) had a new job within a few months and is thriving right now. The majority say their situation improved significantly after they were kicked out of Optum. I'm not minimizing what's going on, I just want to remind everybody that things will get better.

Probably a “saved” person trying to gaslight everyone.

Sounds like something a poor performer who didn't make the "retain list" on a peer ranking would say. The person is trying to give some perspective that there are always other options for employment...and many people get a downsizing/layoff notice and it ends up being a "push" to other opportunities that are even better. I had horrible leadership when I was at Humana and left just prior to mass layoffs...and ended up in a role that was the equivalent of 2 promotions up and a 50% compensation increase...good things are always possible. Don't be a pessimist if you can avoid it as things end up often being self-fulfilling.

I agree. I was part of the last round of layoffs along with some seriously great people. We have all landed on our feet, with better positions, at companies who value our work and our work ethics. A better work/life balance. I didn’t realize how unhappy I was at work until I realized how happy I am now.
