Thread regarding SAP layoffs

Any news about layoffs in P&E?

I could not listen to the call with MA yesterday. Did he talk about layoffs in his board area?

@15v Manners, please. Your language leaves a lot of room for improvement.

@121 Exactly my opinion. Rumors.

We should not panic. Things will not turn out that bad. We will suffer, but much less than Microsoft, Salesforce or Oracle.

First of all, how the 15000 figure cones out? Any evidence leads to that, or just rumors? Also hear nothing from union. With this huge amount, this process won't be fast.

Almost all of Emarsys will be laid off except for some of product. All sales, customer success, product marketing, etc is redundant and roles being served by SAP

@a9 last point is true. I know a few people in BTM with global type roles, they found their role posted for applications over the past month or two. Interviews are happening but with a very targeted list of applicants. They can see the writing on the wall.

@fz why would customers matter to them? Their only goal is to get as many millions as they can in bonuses before leaving in the next 2-3 years. It's a shame that the supervisory board and the employee union is allowing them to get away with this.

@fp I think it's realistic. CK and DA kept talking about 10000 and that was before they wanted to lay off 2% every year due to AI. The real number will probably be between 10000 and 15000.

@fm definitely the only thing this board cares about is stock price and their annual bonus. The word "customer" is disappearing from SAP narrative and it is used every now and then to give the appearance of care towards our clients.as mentioned multiple times on this forum the plan of the board is simple and transparent: short term gain focus and get as much money as possible (anyway when they will be replaced they will also get a rich severance, so nothing to loose). Employees are only cost on a spreadsheet...and customer? This will be the problem of the next board.

@fm I am not sure that the 15000 are already planned.

We simply do not have enough information today to paint a cohesive picture.

I got laid off during the big 8000 of early 2024. Despite promises, we weren’t treated with respect at all. No thought was given to the client I was in the middle of onboarding. Don’t believe it is ‘the client is at the centre of everything we do’, it is really the shareholders only. My thoughts are with the 15,000 that will know their fate in Q1 next year😦

I guess at least one person must know the truth. I hope it will be leaked here.

The truth is: as of today, we simply don't know.

@c5 Of course there will be layoffs.

The stock price practically demands them.

Will there be mass layoffs of product management and developers? No response means yes.

The executive board hasn’t made decisions on which areas yet. They will be sharing this formally in January so you can expect some rumors around Christmas I guess. From what I’ve heard so far, they’re trying to get rid of as many T4 experts as possible who are on higher salaries so grade 3. The ones they want to keep were promoted to T5 in the last year or so. If you are a support engineer or developer or product manager, you should be worried. If you are a project manager or HRBP or a designer, you need not be worried because they are committed to not firing any. This time they’re also getting rid of employees from growth areas like Signavio and Leanix and Walkme to replace them with longterm SAP employees based in Walldorf and Sankt Leon Rot. If someone new from these areas has joined your organization and got promoted in the last year, they probably have a mandate to cleanse non-SAP employees and bring in friends and family from Walldorf and Sankt Leon Rot. If you’re based in a smaller location, there will be pressure to come to the office more often and if you say no, your “performance” will suffer. Anyone with a lower performance in the new performance management may also be let go. Layoffs for 15000 employees is a pretty big target but they really want it this time because otherwise they will get less millions in their bonuses.
