Greg Abbott Says Offices Can Increase Capacity to 75%

Here we go with VH and her right leaning EC forcing all the employees back on October 1st! “We need to get the bulk of our employees back to the office”. What a load of sh*t. Cases are about to skyrocket like they did the last time the governor reopened Texas too soon.

Ah spanky is that you? Upset that the EC disregarded your opinion entirely? LOL.

We have to keep the pressure on. Otherwise the whiners will want it extended to March, then June, then end of 2021. It would easier to accept if they got rid of 401k match, no bonuses, no LTI until the company can be straightened out. Oh yes, also get rid of 25% of the people.

@fhx+16ZKY9Mk - It’s already been decided that WFH is being extended until January so you can go ahead and have your little meltdown and then cry yourself to sleep in a dark corner of your residence.

If you get COVID, it will be from somewhere other than the office. Very few cases have been traced to exposure from a work location. Most are coming from all the other places you are going - church, parties, restaurants, etc. so get back to work already and quit whining. Most of you probably can’t get in your work clothes now because you’ve gained the COVID 50! LOL

Being able to handle COVID depends on the intelligence of the employees. I would say OxY’s people are smart enough to not pass it along or get it at work. Why don’t people go back and pretend like they are at home. Minimize big meetings, social distance, and always wear masks.

Managing Covid is going to be tough in an office. I have a friend that works for a small company of 30 or so. Since May they have been sent home three times. Twice people in the office had Covid and the office closed for 14 days and everyone got a test. This past Friday one person had a family member at home test positive. In that case the whole department was sent home on Friday and all had to go get a rapid test and report it back asap. No one was positive so they went back to work Monday. It is going to be a nightmare to keep up with all of us, and that is why they have us fill out the form before going in each day. It is going to be up to us to be honest about our health each day before coming in. At this point there is a bunch of noise being made about speculation. Maybe the company will come back and say extend WFH. It is really not fair to be talking all this smack before hearing from our leaders. They have made all the right decisions as of today.

Seriously guys? My friend was healthy and got Covid (30 year old guy). He said it was the worst he has ever felt. Even if I don’t die from it, I certainly do not want to catch it. EC should keep us home.

“Why would management care”

Because the company doesn’t want to get sued when someone spreads COVID at the office, which is almost a certainty.

Why should management even care if the workers don’t want to come in. The message from anyone with a spine should be “come in or don’t work here anymore”. We are all tired of the immaturity of this crowd.

I disagree most people I’ve talked to in my group have been effective and prefer WFH. Too many unknowns with this virus.

If you look at the majority of the posts regarding wfh, you can tell MOST employees do not want to go back. One post saying wfh should continue has 109 upticks.

For those of us capable of working from home, it's really easy to piss and moan about government or our executives wanting to reopen too soon. But do you have any idea how many small business owners and their families are miserable right now? Or have been evicted or incapable of making mortgage payments? Can you even imagine how awful it's been to endure this panic?

Virus is real, it's scary, we don't know what it'll do long-term. But there is no possible way it has resulted in more suffering than the unemployment of millions upon millions. It's time to reopen. We need to stop thinking about minimizing lives lost to a virus and start thinking about minimizing collective American citizen suffering.

Guess it is time to put pants back on. I just hope they fit still. WFH dress code has been shorts and a golf shirt. Honestly I might have a problem with the pants being too tight.
