Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Growing With Purpose

I’ve been gone now for 2 years. In the chemical company back in 2019 “Growing With Purpose” was all the rage.

Is that still a thing or did it fizzle out like most other empty feel-good excursions?

GwP cost the former Chemicals president his job because he acknowledged there was a culture problem and attempted to address it in little corner of the corporation. Dallas leadership squashed it (and him) like a bug because they were unwilling to accept anything other than a “top-down” approach to culture change. Translation: we aren’t the problem, you are.

The most ironic part is that "purpose" was never fully defined. The new strategy / mission statement now does have a purpose defintion... but I guess we are now lacking the growing part.

No. That is gone, as expected. Now it is "Come here and let me PIP you with purpose"

I remember 2019 well...

EMCC employees: So you want us to grow with purpose?
Management: Yes!
Employees: Can we have some capital to grow?
Management: Absolutely not!

"Growing with purpose, without capital"

The purpose we were growing for was layoffs and outsourcing. Those fools learned nothing from the downturn in 2014/2015 and just kept kingdom building.

There is no WeAreExxonMobil anymore. The silos are reshuffled. Now it’s Product Solutions, EMTEC, LCS.

Not a thing anymore! Now it’s #WeAreExxonMobil, but it’s all the same corporate BS. Wow you want us to collaborate and innovate? How novel.
