"At least EMC had a basic grasp of what security is. I worked for EMC for 15 years and there was never a security breach. Since the dell takeover there has been 3 that I am aware of."

Wagon wheels never went flat, ancient days gone by, just like EMC.

@g8 In fairness - since Dell took over, what, almost eight years ago, the tools used by evil doers and curious hackers have increased exponentially. Middle schoolers can now raise havoc with a few well placed phishing emails.

You can imagine what well funded groups from countries like Russia, China, North Korea, Iran, and others go to work.

Tangent - is it a robot that connects and neutralizes up/down votes or a low paid person in a country outside of the US?

@f1 They didn't really mean that the Mac was a security risk, they meant that legacy EMC people were the security risk.

“My new job got me a MacBook pro.”
I used a Mac at EMC for several years, much easier to support one of the products with it. After the merger I kept it for a few years until Dell declared it a security risk.

@ek

You mean you don't need 20+ internal apps and bloatware running in the background for security????!

My new job got me a MacBook pro. After years of a Dell laptop, it was a major shock to the system to work on a laptop that DOESN'T randomly freeze up every time you click on something and DOESN'T randomly start blowing air like a jet engine when you start a Teams call.

Who knew?

Most of your data most of the time, some of your data sometimes, none of your data when you need it.

More like:

"Yesterday's technology delivered eventually, maybe."

Several of my customers have canceled orders because dell has taken longer than a year to deliver.
