@fc+1jkxptgga Nice comment regarding the legacy APC people who chose to stick around. I think we are all happy to be with Oxy instead of Chevron for sure. Oxy is a good company.
Only 20%? Back in the late 1980's thru the 90's, layoffs in the patch looked like DOGE had a hand in them. Been in lay offs where half the company was released before lunchtime. Camera crews were in the lobby interviewing as they left with their stuff. People have gotten soft as the years have gone by. They call it work for a reason...
This is really bad for the US employees as they shift jobs to India. This turns out pretty good I would think for the legacy APC folks that came over with the Oxy purchase of Anadarko. I bet many would of stayed with Chevron if they had of got APC, and would be caught up in this mess. This should be especially true for the young ones that came over, and it looks like they made the right decision to stay with Oxy. By the way the legacy APC employees that stayed have turned out to be great co-workers at least in the area I work in. I support them daily and have yet to run across one that is not a pleasure to work with. I for one am glad they stayed with us.
Why doesn’t Oxy do a lay-off. There certainly must be a bunch of people ready to retire or ready to be fired. The CEO has no -alls.

Chevron

will lay off 15% to 20% of its workers, or roughly 6,000 to 8,000 people, the company told employees on Wednesday. A top company executive told Barron’s that the layoffs are part of a larger cost-cutting initiative, and are not a sign of broader problems at the company.

I smell a hiring drive for Oxy! The worst dropout of any other company always makes their way here. Its always what we've done. We are the punchline to a joke in Oil and Gas.
