@16k Is there a date for closure?
SR closing …. How is anyone surprised by it.
@11a I thought they were very own about planning to close down Santa Rosa. I’ve known about it for years and I’m a peon at a completely unrelated site.
@g0 I made a post about this a few days ago. Sorry it was true. Effectively Santa Rosa was the site I was referring to. It's been a (confidential) closure project for years.
@k2 restructuring is specifically called out as an exception.
RIFd folks will get prorated MIPs.
@kf That thought occurred to me also. Somebody's got to pay the three hundred eighty two million
@fz Who knows but it seems odd that these layoffs happened now and this article just came out how MDT owes $382 million for a lawsuit related to a Surgical product. Wonder who's taking the fall for that.

I bet next year, Medtronic will be cutting the severance packages.
@k1 Daaannng… that’s harsh.
@k0 Policy says you have to be working through the end of the quarter to get the bonus unless you are retiring. Is it different for a layoff?
@jz Unless things have changed, those affected will get sc--wed for maybe one month of bonus. Laid off today means employment ends first part of April. The bonus is paid for the period of employment.
It’s time to let local news outlets know about this.
@a9 No impacts in Structural Heart this week. And Nina announced her retirement back in December so that's unrelated. And, not a chance that Structural Heart will be sold.
Re: rice creek, does this include AME folks?
@dq So sorry….
About 20 members (80%) of the Pharma R&D group was fired at Rice Creek/Santa Rosa this week.
I have heard nothing about layoffs in Surgical. They usually do layoffs across the whole company within a few days of each other, so it is odd that Surgical is untouched.
Layoffs usually happen in May. Could they be planning multiple rounds to avoid triggering the WARN act notifications?
@fa they want you to transfer to India from the US?
@e3 with the two weeks per year of service did they have a max of one year payout or 6 months?
Any news on GSOC impact since Greg Smith retired ?
@a3 yes I'm interested to know what are people getting as their severance package?
I was told last week. But they are trying redeployment. I have been redeployed twice before and both times it has turned out great for me. Not sure this time - most of the options are India. Not sure how I feel about that as the time zones are so different.
It seems like they are always getting hit.
@OP Diabtetes in Northridge also impacted. Only know of marketing and PFS layoffs. Honestly a little surprised but I guess they are looking to get lean before the transition.
Medtronic IT is getting hit now too.
Looks like the layoffs are hitting GCCM & other corporate roles who work with digital (web). MDT is doubling-down on ruining their website after they gutted their centralized web team May 2025.
LAF Site Colorado - package is 60 days + 2 weeks per year of service. Glad I got out, has been looking around since last year. Feels like a relief now.
ENT affected
UK affected too
I’m so sorry to everyone affected by this. If you’re comfortable sharing, could you let us know what severance you’re receiving?
Just conjecture, but Aortic shut down. Structural heart for sale. Structural heart maybe sold in pieces, it's just not a cohesive business all together.
Confirmation was received today across multiple areas.
Yep, I received the invite. HR was on the phone (cold move ... fired via the phone). Promptly got laid off.
Just heard the Hugo transfer has been put on hold! thats not a good sign! Does anybody know what the story is?
Surgical Ireland has just been hit! We were called in this morning for a meeting.
@aq what OU in Lafayette?
@a9 SH&A, structural heart and aortic, has been split into two units. Aortic joining another group, and structural heart...... who knows.
This is also part of Elliot Management's plan. It's never a good sign when a large investment firm gains a large stake in the business.
Layoffs will be every quarter now. Had meetings today asking us to divest suppliers, slowly selling us for parts. All these executives who stayed for 1-2 years destroyed business units and jumped ship before anyone caught on to their fraud. Anyone left is clueless. A matter of time where investors see all the fraud.
