Let’s be honest, how much worse can it get than it already is? I don’t know about you, but for me, it can’t. Things can only improve from here. I’m willing to give this a chance before deciding the world is ending or whatever else.

St-lin and Mao said the same.
@bg Well by the looks of things if they make money for a few years that should be enough. How much more life do you think these guys have in them? They are pretty old this is just the finishing move.
That’s what the Germans ppl said about hi---r. Then it got worse lol.
@fa So what's going on behind the scenes? What aren't the Sycamore people telling us? They claim that they are hoping to keep most if not all remaining stores open. I would imagine that means "for now". We'll see what happens after the holidays.
Still PLENTY of walgreen,s employee kool aid drinkers. Amazing to say the least. That is why they hired you. You will never leave until they say go. Sad
I'm not worried. I am aware of what is going on and have a plan. It is not going to be good. But, I am not worried.
@bg Not a fan of private equity but Walgreens probably didn't have much choice. With the brand recognition Walgreens has, I'm sure it was a feather in Sycamore's cap to acquire such a company when opportunities are slim. The Sycamore folks sure talk a good game and they certainly know how sell it. I'm sure many of our executives are crapping their pants over whether they'll have a job in the next few months. Sycamore said, in so many words, if you're not ready for the journey with them, you may want to find another job. For my part, I'm ready for retirement and have become so soured over Walgreens over the past few years that I just can't muster the passion and excitement that the Sycamore journey requires. I wish the employees of Walgreens well but for my part, I'm not losing any sleep over the future of Walgreens.
Not sure all these comparisons to Staples are relevant. Office supply stores and chain dr-gstores are apples and oranges. Free market economic principles don't conform with healthcare providing companies like Walgreens. I don't see these Sycamore people coming in to let Walgreens just fail. Pessina has a lot of skin in the game as well. Why would he gamble so much of own money if he and these Sycamore investors were coming to pick the company apart? Seems like this was his long term goal.....to eliminate the shareholder. Now they split the profitable part of the company (Walgreens) from the dogs (Boots,Village Medical, etc.) and every penny made goes right into Sycamore and Stefano's pockets. Seems like there's a lot more money to be made if they run Walgreens the right way as a long term investment.
Best part is splitting boots. That has been a drag since the beginning.
Sycamore might be making good moves for the company but you or any of us could be cut on a moments notice. None of us are critical to the future.
Sad but true
You make a good point. Sycamore is making many moves that is beneficial in the long run. The terrible Walgreens leadership being shown the door is a great thing. Who wants this group of worthless leaders to continue leading Walgreens???? Selling Village MD is a good thing. Village has been bleeding money and sooner Village is sold, the better.
Walgreens hit its low point under Tim. It cannot get worse.
How much worse can it get?? Look at what's happening already. Executives are being shown the door, the company is being split up into 5 separate companies. Village MD is up for sale now. The ink on the deal is barely even dry yet and already Sycamore has started cutting and slashing. Don't stick your head in the sand, pay attention to what's going on around you.
