Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

Where all we landed after layoff?

What kind of position pkg so far you got? Do you think you being treated differently in interview because you are laid off?do you think you are not been selected because laid off? Did you compromise on your pkg ,position to get a job? What do you say in interview..the truth that you are laid off?

How difficult is it to get a job for someone like me (I am 48) in current market if I get laid off? Is there any difference if I resign or get laid off because I was getting call at least still 2-3 months ago when I was looking. Is it like if I got laid off companies will choose someone who willingly resign? I believe they would know the reason from HR anyway as part of the verification process.

Citi really put a bad taste in my mouth. So tired of these big corporations treating their employees like sc-m. I might start digging ditches, or doing handyman stuff. Im not in the headspace of wanting to get another job at a massive company and repeat the cycle of being lied to and manipulated. As for interviews, I haven't had any. I don't think they would like to hear what I have to say right now.

Is telling truth that got layoff is affecting the offer ( you're not good enough so will only give this much)

Did you guys who ever got laid off have disclosed the "restructuring " reason?

Didn't get laid off, but resigned as re-org introduced toxic leadership that believed more in nepotism and bootlicking rather than skill and knowledge. Am now at a much better paying job at a boutique bank in midtown NYC. The search was long in last year's terrible market but I was determined to take my talent, skill and drive elsewhere where it would be more appreciated. Not that I didn't have days when i felt down and disappointed at not getting or failing interviews, but I worked hard on my mindset
It helped that I had mentally already resigned from Citi (used to love my job up until 2024 when reorg happened) and did the bare minimum so I could focus on the job search more than anything else

Between savings, the 60 day period, and the severance, I'll be fine for a while. I'm taking some time off while interviewing, looking for something that starts within a week or so of my 60 day period ending. What's funny is I stuck around at Citi for so long that I'll probably come away from this making 30% more lol.

My layoff process was quite drawn out and I actually secured a new role at a competitor on the same day my access was revoked. It was a lateral move with similar compensation but better benefits. I didn’t need to disclose the layoff and simply explained that I was looking to leave because the role was being moved to a lower-cost location, which was true. I’ve also been advised that reference checks typically only confirm employment dates, not whether someone was made redundant and in any case, redundancy isn’t something to be ashamed of.
