Thread regarding Altice USA (Cablevision) layoffs

Run for the door

Seriously, everyone should be updating their resume and be actively looking, and when you find something you like get the he-l out because if you wait till the day of that unexpected TEAMS call you will be fu@ked. At this point I would not be expecting any kind of a severance package. What little money they have will go to pay the Sr. Exec group their high 6 and 7 figure payouts before it all crashes.

Decent advice from @ep+1kr20x9vq.

@f5 I don't think Spectrum is in a place right now to buy out Optimum with their upcoming merger. One of the better scenarios, is that Spectrum will buy pieces of it instead

Only people that will be left after layoffs are Indians and family members related to Dennis Mathew.

Spectrum taking over the company anyway. Still have cash flow. Company has assets. Still an attractive buy for a merger. Mark my words. Get ready for the ride.

@ck They could be from anywhere. There was mass layoffs last year.

But I agree with the OP. Right now there is a big push for teams to automate themselves out of a job. As teams become more efficient with less, you will see further headcount reduction and/or outsourcing. You don't owe this company anything. Use all your sick time and personal time. Stop bending over backwards for management that doesn't care about you. That includes direct managers that only care about themsleves and not the well being of their support staff. My management made that clear. When the time comes, they will give you no warning. Pull you into a meeting and lay you off.

Remember you are working for a company that is failing. The yearly raises are not even coming close to keeping up with the fake inflation numbers coming out. Nevermind actual inflation. Next year they face a debt wall they can't pay currently. Maybe now you see why they changed to quarterly bonuses instead of yearly. Exec management knows the game is over next year and wants every dime they can squeeze out now, and hopefully keep everyone from jumping ship until they are prepared to lay you off. Every single team should be looking for an exit. Don't assume you are safe. Don't assume you will get a severance payout. Don't assume your manager has your back. They don't. Find another job now while you are still collecting a paycheck. Don't concern yourself with giving them 2 weeks notice. I promise you they will give you 0.

Why do I know without asking that the 2 replies to this post (3 if you count this one) all came from NOC?

Being laid off was the best thing that ever happened to me. Had a job within 3 months. No more on call, no more ridiculous micro-management.

I’m coming up on one year being out of that pathetic place and I am happier than I have been in a long damn time! I got my last severance check today and I have no more ties to those !diots. They paid me damn near a year to not work there and I had a job three weeks after leaving, so my being severanced out was very beneficial. I say good riddance to the worst company on the planet and to the worst of the worst “leadership” I have ever seen in my life. Those people are s@um of the earth and I am thoroughly enjoying watching it all finally come apart!
