Thread regarding Ford layoffs

They’ve RTOed me out of the company

For starters, the commute wouldn’t make any sense. Hours a day I could live or work. I won’t even start on the other bullsh-t. And make no mistake - that’s what they want us all to do. Good luck with this nonsense. If you have any other option, take it.

I told the ll4 I would retire Feb 2026 to add to the expected headcount reductions. instead, because i had pension and because "2 men don't like you", I was cut november 2024

@f2 if they offer voluntary packages then all the smart ones will leave. Then what’s left are the d— ones with no transferable skills.

I would leave in a heartbeat if I was offered a package. Only reason I don’t leave now is because I have enough years of service to where it makes sense to get a package and I’m at the higher end of the salary grade.

They should offer voluntary packages and then see who is willing to take it and then the company can make the decision to accept or deny that person. It will at least save the company from soome bad PR.

If employees are willing to take a package that tells you they don’t want to be here and those are the ones they should get rid of, but that makes too much sense for Ford Executives to do.

With my commute, 4 day RTO is equivalent to spending 20 waking days sitting in my car.

Just to sit in a building and talk on occasional Teams calls with my remote bosses and the 60 percent of my Ford colleagues in India and elsewhere. All for a job that will be the target of Ford’s labor arbitrage strategy any time.

No thanks.

You might want to wait until September to retire. Hopefully you’ll get pick for the layoff and get a nice little severance while saving a few jobs for the younger guys

Me too. I've been prepared to leave since the 3 day RTO went into affect. The difference is that I wasn't adhering to the 3 day RTO because I was prepared to leave, and management didn't force the issue, so I kept working. When I got my warning email a few weeks ago, followed by a meeting with my LL6 less than days later, I decided I was done, and retired. Now I'm using my time and skills to run my own business that I've been developing for a few years now on my own time. Quite frankly, I should have left a long time ago. I'd be farther ahead today.
