Thread regarding Fiserv Inc. layoffs

RTO Sissies

I may be retired but for all of my working life I have driven or taken a train to a workplace and my office 5 days a week for a 40 hour work week. I have done remote too but an office is where I associate work. My boss at Fiserv said the same thing some time ago too. So I have no sympathy here - su-k it up, go to the office and work.

All anybody us want is some level of flexibility in our schedules without a punch clock monitoring us. Hybrid schedules have proven to be the most productive. Old timer it use to be about output not hours logged sitting at a desk faking productivity. This ge----o out dated set of policies has proven over and over to not work. That on top of s—t pay and bonuses makes people want to do bare minimum. Fact!!! D-mb A—hole C-suite. Wake up dummies

Good riddance.

Just because it used to be that way doesn’t mean it still has to be that way. Pretty lame and narrow viewpoint to say something like that. Times have changed just a little bit lol.

Sissies? What are you 80? I suppose you walked uphill both ways to school too didn’t ya? Some of these folks agreed to take a job that was remote and that was taken from them. I’m in office 5 days a week yet still communicate mostly via teams so the “collaboration” is the same whether in office or out. Also no one asked for your sympathy so save it and go drink your ovaltine because you’re not you when you’re hungry.

Boomer has entered the chat!

If you ever get cancer, don’t take the treatment because someone 100 years ago didn’t have access?

I know who this clown voted for this election cycle!

Imagine your face when you see that its even worse. 8 hours a day 5 days a week is all you did? We're on 9 hours a day, 5 days a week now. Checkmate, the younger generation officially has it worse.

I agree except my office was closed and I was forced into remote work. Then they held that against me forced me to an office and I sure as heck was not moving to NJ.

The point you are missing is everyone hired into the workforce since 2020 has NO clue what the old “normal” is
Things have changed and you cannot expect new workforce to wuickly adjust to this old way of thinking

And OP had to walk uphill both ways in the snow. They also had to move electrons by hand using teeny tiny tweezers to get any work done. And they can still remember the day they moved them out of the wooden schoolhouse into a real building.

Tell me you're old without telling me you're old. Werent you there when the idea that tech would have us all working 1 hr a day 2 days a week like george jetson was invented and normalized? Gotta love the boomers telling on themselves that their entire generation failed on purpose. It's called progress, you might want to learn about it.

How did they track productivity when you jackasses had telephone operators and lead paint? Let’s go back to that.

We used to use punch cards. All these kids nowadays with their fancy monitors and object-oriented whatzits. Get a real job and do some real work!

The problem seems to be that it's hard (if not impossible) to measure productivity. Counting clicks doesn't cut it. If they count clicks or mouse movement, they'll get more of that. The only thing that matters is whatever the unit of actual work or work in-progress is.

Not sure RTO solves that.

New technology makes it possible for people to work from home. Wfm is going backwards. I’ve worked 5 days a week for decades but it’s not needed anymore.

"I suffered so I think everyone should suffer." People like you with that ridiculous attitude got us all into the oligarchic disaster this country and it's workforce are facing. Progress means change. If technology allows for remote work, give me ONE valid reason for being in office? Collaboration? No, we're stuck on Teams calls all day. ERG events? Oh, right, so I can get chastised that they're not 'work' hours. I could go on. What's one single benefit for employees? Because all I get is: long commute and car expenses, parking wars BH edition, waiting 15 mins for the shuttle, sick more than I've been in six months than I've been since being remote BEFORE covid, can't concentrate in a loud open workspace, poorly maintained bathrooms, less time with my family... there's no benefits for making us be in 5 days a week. We'll, no benefits for us, anyway...
