Resignation email

For those of you who have resigned did you copy hr in the email?
Something came up today and I am convinced that I must now leave and my last day would be tomorrow
I feel so relieved and I am emailing my supervisor and his supervisor. Do I need to copy hr?

It’s easier to find a new Jon if you still have the old job. Don’t resign without having a place to land unless the current one is completely untenable because you are being forced to do something illegal.

Don't quit. Do a poor job while looking for new job. Then get pip and take them for three months pay.

@ezu, I don't remember if you'll get paid for unused vacation or not. Definitely not any unused "floating holidays." Look it up in our benefits online before you make your final decision.

I would send an email and copy your entire team. If you don’t people will be saying you were fired.

Prevent the rumor mill. Let them know why as well as professional as possible.

Trust me on this. Save your processional reputation. This happened to me once.

Agree with last post.
Send to the upper manager only. That's official.

Send to your immediate supervisor's Supervisor only.
Send them into a single-engine swirl to the floor.

Assuming you have a decent financial cushion, just do it! The more you think about it, the more you might convince yourself to stay for months of additional torture waiting for a PIP and layoff that you don’t know will affect you 100%. Not worth the wait but that assumes you can afford to go jobless for a while...

If you decide to leave, Congratulations on having courage and taking control of your life! You will feel so much better, heck you are already feeling it!

Good luck 👍

Send email to only yourself. Sleep on it. If still sure you wish to terminate your own employment And you are ok with them not paying you for vacay unused time or them stuffing you on no pay after you are gone then if you still feel need to quit then do it one minute before logging out same day as quitting. But if you need money from unemployment don’t quit let them lay you off. Just sayin. Take weekend to think it over even. Don’t rush a big decision that may bite you in the end. But if after a night or weekend to think it over and talk with loved ones and you feel peace about it? Then go for it!

It's entirely up to you. If you feel the need to resign that formally, adding someone from HR isn't a bad thing.
Or you could just call up your direct manager and explain that something has come up and tomorrow will be your last day.
Since you're basically giving zero notice... the end result isn't likely to be much different whichever way you go.
