Thread regarding EchoStar Communications Corp. layoffs

What's going on with Hughes management?

There's been barely any communication to employees about recent events (like Hamid leaving), or the gorilla in the room, potential downsizing and a sale.

There also seems to be no taste for process improvement or innovation right now. They seem to be holding the status quo and operating on an "it is what it is" mentality.

@OP well now we know. Mass layoffs Friday affecting 500+ employees across a wide spectrum vertically and horizontally.

They hired consultants to establish a hit list of people to terminate, fired them in batches every half hour, and people were weeping and crying in the hallways trying to figure out how to assist those with various visa status that were fired.

It didn’t matter what longevity you gave the company, everyone got two months of paychecks and health insurance. You’re not required to come back to the office for those two months but many were coerced to stay to help transition their work. Coerced because they mostly target visa holders and dangled the possibility of assisting in their visa related nuances if they cooperate.

It was a very difficult trauma for many who were affected. They’re good people. They work hard. They put up with so many workforce decisions that were uncalled for, including Charlie forcing all employees to buy Boost Mobile plans if they want to keep their jobs.

Prayers to all of us affected.

The managers are left in the dark. But I heard something is actively brewing on the executive level
