Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Laid off on Thursday

I was impacted on Thursday and took the rest of the day and Friday off. Will I be expected to work in my normal capacity tomorrow? Not much was communicated to me

"I did not want to give a reason to terminate employment for job abandonment." - @et
You were already terminated. You can't be re-terminated

I got the axe in November. I know, I know, why am I still on this site. ALL of my access was cut off - except for email and my Google drive - within minutes of the phone call, so I could not do any work. I logged in every day, checked email, went through the separation checklist. I did not want to give a reason to terminate employment for job abandonment.

Idi*ts with "Depends on manager" advice, stfu. what's the manager going to do? fire you?

Ignore anything other than basic work hand off, and move on with your life.

My 1st Rif was in October 2016, Off payroll 12/31/2016. I left after being told and never went back.

I normally asked my affected employees to start focusing on their next roles. I never thought it was fair for me to ask for anything anymore. It is a stressful event in itself.

Good luck and there is a great life after VZ

Completely subjective based on mgt. Some don't care, others expect you to keep working. When I riff'd, zero direction - keep working, don't work, take training, etc... nothing.

By choice, I kept doing my job because I did want to stay, but focused on finding a job. Hit the ground running, grinded it out through multiple interviews until I landed. Turns out in a much, much better place. I was in GTS - you do the math.

At this point you don't owe them anything. Just concentrate on your next move. Simple as that.

This is highly depended on your manager, but I expect that going forward you can just focus on transitioning your projects over
