Thread regarding VMware layoffs

Magoo with the BS again

"We will continue to communicate as the regulatory bodies issue updates"

Uh, Magoo? When is the last time this company said anything about the merger, other than "ignore it and keep working?"

They said nothing about the EU warning. They said nothing about ANY regulatory news. FTC says something? Silence. EU says something? Silence.

I get more insight into this topic via the slack channel than I do from the executives!

One freaking paragraph in yesterday's email, and Magoo makes it seem like they keep us up to date on a weekly basis. Pathetic.

It makes me angry that both Magoo and Betsy think we are id--ts and just listen to their stupid speech how the world is all fine and rosy in vmware.

Be honest at least once for fu--s sake ... just once ...

Actually the ONLY time I saw Magoo being honest was during the meeting with Hock on the campus where Magoo said to Hock that the main concern by the people of vmware are working from home and redundancies .... Was first or second meeting after announcement where whatshisface Krause said that they understand that people are worried about working from home but 'we are sitting here in a beautiful campus with empty offices having to justify the cost to our shareholders'.

So yea - that was the first and only time Magoo was honest, telling Hock what we feel.

Every time I see him on the screen with his fu----g crooked pair of glasses and jumper that is as professional as my son's year 3 writing, I could just slap him with a wet fish.

Makes so much more sense now to see that Magoo's hiring is racially motivated. Look at all the senior leadership and the BU leads.

yup and he is rewarded handsomely for it to the tune of 50 mil
damn right we expect better, some charm and skill, expertise and knowledge
he is a shambles, could not lead us out of a dark room
I am embarrassed to have him as my CEO

"I'm not excusing it. I have no control over it"

You're excusing it. You're keeping your head down which is understandable. But you are also excusing Magoo's know-nothing, do-nothing "management" style, and that is not understandable.

Look at your Deleted Items folder. Find what Magoo has said about the merger. Are you satisfied with his communication about this? The level of detail? Are you inspired by Magoo's leadership?

You're making excuses for poor management. And you know it used to be better. YOu know it. Full stop friend.

“Leadership” might have taken the Spartan’s approach to defending vSphere workloads at all cost, and not so eagerly jumped in bed with the hyperscalers. As it stands, we’ve essentially been pi---d

Old man #1 again. I’ve worked for some great leaders, and not so great leaders. OP? It sounds like you’ve been here for awhile, and recall the days of meritocracy. What the he-l happened?

I'm not excusing it. I have no control over it, other than to leave it. It's okay, old man... I catch myself being a grumpy from time to time too.

Old or young - white or dark - none of that should matter! Business is about delivering value, and getting paid for it. Business is not about virtue-signalling. Incompetent managers should not be rewarded.

What I describe is a meritocracy, which VMW has not been for a very long time. Shame!

Well old man, if you wish to stay heads down, go ahead. But I want more from my CEO. I demand more from a CEO.

Magoo is a time waster. That's why he was installed into his current role. Just say as little as possible, keep the ship going until we get bought. He brings no value. And yeah, I'm an old guy too. Old enough to have had bosses with actual leadership skill.

But when a CEO brings nothing to the table, I don't excuse his behaviour like you do.

This is an interesting study. Re the reaction to my post, 22 hrs previous to this post. I am an old, white guy. I see the incompetence, trust me. There's a reality at play here that I've witnessed a few times during my career. Things will change and there's really not much any of us can do to influence it. In my experience, the best medicine is to stay heads down, crank it out, and or look for other work. In my case, dissolution will probably determine my retirement date. My kids are grown, my situation is different than you who have young families, for example. I know the stress is compounded by that additional responsibility, but back to the assumption I'm Indian and part of Vmware's mono-culture? That couldn't be farther from the truth :) Enjoy a great day!

The comparison to Mr. Magoo just gets better and better. The title of the original post could very well have been “Oh Magoo, You’ve done it again!” - one of Mr. Magoo’s catch phrases.

What a clown, I would prefer it if we played circus music when he arrives in stage at least then it would all be up front who we have leading us.

The Magoo sycophants here must be either senior enough to be in his inner circle or HR told to police the threads here, sad really.

Noting that regulators along the way are doing reviews and hence delaying the acquisition counts as information worth sharing

That is low hanging fruit…

Also acceptable is his resignation.

Still waiting to hear what an --acceptable-- response would be. What should Raghu put in an email for one to believe that leadership is communicating well?

There is so much random whinging that it's hard to tell if this is just more of the same, or if there could be actual ideas here for how to improve it.

"Find happiness whether working in your current role or another. Pick your battles"

OK, my battle is against do-nothing executives who says nothing of value in the face of the biggest change this company has ever seen.

But no, people like you would rather excuse his lack of leadership, because he has the same skin color as you. Go sweep the floor, Dalit.

@esn+1lwQz1hX

I hope you aren’t in a leadership position.

“Actionable” has nothing to do with it. Even the basic news of the acquisition isn't “actionable” but there are pieces of news to share about what is occurring with respect to the deal. Noting that regulators along the way are doing reviews and hence delaying the acquisition counts as information worth sharing along with all that was mentioned in a previous message.

Magoo is a buffoon pure and simple and has no idea how to lead people. Certainly the worst CEO VMware has ever had by a mile.

Now get back to work, nothing to see here.

“We are hearing those rumors as well” - Magoo

Wow. The desi/HR mafia sure does not like any criticism of Magoo or of how the leadership is handling comms on the acquisition.

"Shut up, slave!"

Gosh. I can only imagine your reaction when actionable news is announced? I suspect you'll you'll be wallowing then as well. Find happiness whether working in your current role or another. Pick your battles

But what insight are you getting? He says nothing in his emails, but there's nothing in Slack or here except speculation.

There is zero actionable data gathered from anything right now. What would you like him to say that would make a difference?
