Thread regarding Fidelity Investments layoffs

No base raise for "Agile Roles" in ET?

Squad leader here in ET. Good shares (>1000), Bonus (~100%) but zero raise. I was told "Abby mandated no base raise for agile roles in ET" but I'm not buying it.

Any squad leads, scrum masters and chapter leads in ET can attest to the contrary?

Even all agiles roles in ET got no raise, we know it's not the case in other BU. So it's most likely from the bean counter Bill.

99% of the time you hear "Abby said..." it's completely baseless. Argument by authority is a real problem at Fidelity. It's a logical fallacy that can't be validated; who's going to ask Abby if she said it?
With that said, Agile has been slowly dying at Fidelity for a few years ago. I was an Agile Coach and saw the writing on the wall. If you truly love the agile process, my advice is to find another company that takes it seriously. If you just like agile because you're hoping to get ahead, it's time to get out and get your PMP.

Last year my manager told me I was getting a raise, then looked at my form and frowned and said it was a good thing I wasn’t getting a raise, because I “would just spend it”.

@es it is very obvious you know nothing about this since Abby directly talks about the Agile 2.0 reset and it’s on her 2025 scorecard AND was “red” since Summer after Howard Galligans departure.

It’s a topic she addressed multiple times in her monthly SMT meeting with L1’s and it was directly her decision to specifically move away from Agile as a construct, retire the Spotify model, and stop new investment in traditional agile roles.

If you are a scrum master or SL I would recommend running from the roles it’s going to be a bumpy 2026 with these new expectations rolling out with high hopes from leadership and I don’t trust very many of the L2/L3 leaders to execute it well and they’ll shovel the sh-t downstream to those in these new roles (product leader, project manager )

@OP not that I support this, but for the business, it's easier to give a one time bonus than a raise that stays on the books, year after year.

"Abby mandated no base raise for agile roles in ET"

Whoever told you this is an id--t - Abby has no clue what Agile roles are at her level, and wouldn't be micro managing to that level.

shares (>1000), Bonus (~100%) but zero raise

That's worth much more than a 3% raise, don't you think? How much more greedy can you be? Give me that any day over a small salary boost.

BTW merit raises don't come out at bonus time - that's 6 months away.

probably because your role is going away in January. Squad leaders will be a thing of the past.

1000 shares is pretty damn sweet!

I am in an agile role but not in ET.

Got a ~7% raise but no shares.

This is true and is enterprise wide. Rationale being base raises are based on market demand and the industry has rapidly been moving beyond agile roles and transforming to include more hybrid agile / traditional program mgmt roles so the “agile” market is in a talent downturn as its over saturated. Plus Abby is annoyed with the agile transformation in general as it ballooned headcount, cost, and agile leadership failed at showing the ROI on the investment hence the pendulum back towards better portfolio mgmt practices and retiring the Spotify model organizational matrix.

Im an SM in wealth. Yeah I got the same messaging, a lot of shares, over 100% bonus but was told they are “pausing” all raises this year for our roles.

This is accurate for the US. Only exemption seems to be those who already moved to the new model (and title names).

You must have been rated an E if you got approximately 100% and shares. The raise is based on market demand. 3% was the standard for inflation, but they don't care about inflation if the rest of the market can get away with not giving raises.
