Thread regarding 3M layoffs

Support?

We have always had great support from the Plant Engineering group at 3M headquarters. Recently we have learned that the group is being phased out and no longer permitted to hire. We need prompt support when we are down! Please step up and provide the resources we need to operate.

I'm surprised JLL is still there, they are much worse than Aramark ever was!

@er+1js25sfys there are several left. All the plants in Minnesota have them for sure. They have been downsized over the years but they exist. It is unfortunate that JLL is pushing into the organization.

CBRE has been taking over the Plant Engineering role in the non-union plants. They are trying to squeeze them in the union plants. As far as Plant Engineering being spread thin, that is just the way it is. Higher ups only allow so many reqs a quarter to hire. And then the whole hiring process is outsourced and takes a long time. Qualified and interested parties do not have the patience to wait 3-4 months. Then the package/wages/benefits are not offered at interviews (unless someone listened and changed that), so the candidate is not sure what they are in for. Does not need to be these hard.
Contractors get a lot of work but Plant Engineering gets stuck trying to fix what they did. Plant Engineering has been told they are "The Warranty" after contractors leave and something needs fixing or correction.

Bald Bob won’t spend a cent. If the company isn’t investing in its own facilities and upkeep there’s a reason for it. The cost of maintenance will increase significantly under a CBRE or JLL, so there’s that. I learned that the food served to our executives is infested with roaches. Unethical leadership at its best.

Plant Engineering? That's been farmed out along with almost all of EWS over the last 5 years or so. Go knock on Bald Bob's door in 224 and tell him you need support. He'll send you a link to the JLL portal where you can submit a work request that will take twice as long to complete at 2-3X the cost. But his dashboard slides look fantastic!

I thought this was done 2 years ago. Am not aware of a central plant engineering organization left-at least in USAC

Funny how BB is selling NPI's and growth to Wall Street yet all the actions will result in the opposite.

Tireman dealt the first death throw by canning a majority of MTE roles and other engineering support. BB is here to shrink what's left and then sell or spin off pieces. He can't be bothered with people, because like the GE mantra: people are costs, not assets. While Sir George had some alleged side acts (not really sure), he clearly knew investing in people helps grow the top and bottom lines.

BB will tell you to work smarter AND harder (work 50 to 60 hours and grin and bear it). Sorry to say, Minnesota Nasty is here to stay. BB can't be bothered today as it's a sunny day from his yacht in Florida.
