I just hope I’ll be able to keep this lousy job until I find something else. I am actively looking. It doesn’t look good out there, but I’m determined to leave. I would accept even a lower pay, if in exchange I would work just my load. I need life, for god's sake!

Those who are in NY working with SH developers ought to log-off in the afternoon on their WFH days.
I refuse to be let go like that, I will continue to stay there and just let the abuse slide off of me, I rather leave with my severance rather than get bullied and mental mind games to get out.
Citi is setting you up to fail. You will be written up for bad performance and will let you go without severance. These so called ‘micro-managers’ are making sure they drive you to a breaking point so you leave or you’re pushed out.
Citi is really struggling and employees are desperate for some sort of normalcy which unfortunately will never happen.
Lame Jane is starting to cut up the businesses ready to sell. That’s why employees are being told not to pay attention to the news under the premise of ‘we know what’s good for you and the company’. Citi is broken, employees are broken. Sadly it’s too late to piece it back together.
No, there are many departments within Citi that is just as disorganized as the wealth sector
You must work in wealth which is a disorganized sh-t sandwich.
Some people have a team, similar to older generations that have a traditional household. Either a wife or husband that takes care of the kids and home responsibility while the husband or wife goes to work and only focus on the work. That is their only priority. These type of employees can make these sacrifices to work roles of two people and even stay late because they have a team backing them up. Not everyone is lucky to have this set up and have to juggle this workload and personal responsibilities themselves.
It is also unfair these type of managers that have a team like this expect you to work like them and keep up when you are already at a disadvantage because you dont have someone to cook your meals or tend to your personal matters because you had to work two weekend straight and you are behind in your personal life. Eventually the employee that has no team will break and their health will actually get compromised. Its really easy to order take out since you dont have time to cook and that take out will take a toll on your health. You also dont have time to exercise since you are always behind the desk.
you can only burn the candle on both ends for so long, once people health starts getting compromised, you cannot push them any more. Doesn't matter how much the manager threatens them or screams or whatever tactics they use, the body wont respond and will take the employee weeks to mentally and physically recover
This work style can only be sustained for so long. Eventually there needs to be a hire of more people, otherwise everything will eventually collapse. If the knowledge workers leave because overwhelmed for so long, eventually a few apps will collapse
I'm not understanding what are they doing?why are they doing? I used to do much more than what I am doing now, with this nonsense running if ppl leave, aren't they good people?
Same thing happened to me. Retirement is on its way - can't wait!
One difficult thing is to keep up to the work culture of Shangai. Its very difficult as an american to live up to their work standards and continue working long hours and weekends as oversea peers. Managers see this and expect american workers to have the same work ethic, otherwise they are underperforming
Reorg removed my old boss (to IC) ,new one created an extra layer (made one of the peer lead, and the peer would report to him) and this new lead using all the opportunities to make our life he-l..not having any experience, blame game, stealing credit, demotivating, belittling any effort, all the possible nonsense doing to make it make re difficult. It looks like a neverending tunnel.
Yes, even though Citi is a US based company, all US employees should bend to the complete will of all oversea employees.
@eqt+1sZjrUCZ
I seen someone do this, and the management team noticed and eventually put that person on a wave of layoff
Its real easy to be undervalued and your skills belittled when its an entire oversea team vs one employee working in the USA. You will be forced to learn everything the best you can just to survive the role. Its very difficult to keep up when there is a huge time zone difference and no employees to really bounce ideas off besides yourself
if you just work 40 hours, you are behind, especially if your team is in shanghai and you are in the USA. You will be forced to work long hours just to sync with the overseas team so that nature alone, you have to work long hours. With the layoffs, Other oversea teams besides shanghai has been removed so In the USA there is only one left while in Shanghai team there is 15+ team members. So you are forced to work on many tasks just to even it out and gain the same knowledge the team has there and bring it to your local team. If you work just 40 hours and dont juggle multiple tasks, you are setting yourself up for failure.
You need to stop doing the work of so many people. The ONLY person who will suffer- and care- is yourself.
Reduce your output slowly…do things on time, never deliver early…
Honestly…you need to mind yourself…
I feel sorry for you, seriously. This forum is the only place you can vent or find anyone who may care even though they can’t do anything about it. You sure as he-l won’t find anyone in upper management that does, that’s for sure.
