Someone from one of the previous layoffs here, just checking in hoping the company learned how to do it better this time around.

So you could volunteer to be layed off but they can say no? Wow, what a great way to get sc—wed since they know you are willing to go, and will write you off as soon as they can. How many people signed up for the voluntary layoff, retirement or unpaid leave?

Wishing everyone the best, no matter whether you chose to stay or go.

The faq is updated. April 21 is supposed to be the deadline for decision on voluntary severance applications.

Did any of you read the FAQ?

Now I know why we miss on requirements all the time when rolling out new features and products...no one reads anything!!!!

Manager here, I think some will be denied and yes, if you are denied and later laid off you are probably fckd just guessing.

I seriously doubt that happens to anyone. I am sure the process will just result in a longer severance start date.

What can we do if we offer to take the voluntary severance and we are advised we are needed to stay on and later they lay us off? Will we then get the regular severance package?

Took the voluntary still waiting to hear anything back

Not everyone is eligible for the severance package. It is at VP's discretion. So, the critical resources were not encouraged to take the offer.

My boss told me that I am a high performance employee, however I lack interpersonal skills. Meaning I don’t s— up enough. For that reason, other team members score higher than I do even when my productivity is 5X that of those who s— up.

And now the scam begins. Managers and above come out of hibernation and become hyperactive. This is the time for them to offer their employees to the lay-off demons to save themselves as they have done for decades.

The enhanced deal was very generous for the junior people with little experience and for the most senior people, those are the people who will be most hit in the upcoming layoff because they are the least needed. The goal is likely to keep as much of the others as possible to maintain a viable company as long as possible.

I doubt the goal is to sail the ship. Looks like it’s going to the bottom, and the generous packages are designed to get as much cash off the boat before declaring bankruptcy.

Exactly, they should have just laid off everyone with a bad review and then offered a voluntary leave package to people who had good reviews but not much experience.

They should be trying to get rid of everyone who isn't high performing with high experience. You want your skeleton crew to actually know how to sail the ship.

Instead we will keep the worst performing most inexperienced people who aren't good enough to get another job elsewhere and we will lose the only people who can keep the company afloat.

Stop hiring new offshore know nothing people for future tech transformation. We shouldn't be wasting resources on that for a couple of years at least. We just need a minimum number of highly skilled highly experienced skeleton crew people right now.

I believe these severance offers aren't to manage short term cash flows but to prepare for a smaller operation in the medium term. Because in short term, these will cost more cash to the company.

So how else will they manage short term cash flow?

That's a rhetorical question btw, in case you didn't get it.

I would have taken the 39 week offer in a heartbeat.

Very sad that Sabre pays out a lot of money for some of the most experienced and most qualified people to leave, get a new job, or chill, or retire and ruin the company even more.

Congrats to All
I didnt really have any incentive vs the normal severance package. So i am staying.
but i am a bit jealous of the 39weeker crowd.

If you had the option @ 39 weeks or greater and you didn't take it. That would have been a foolish choice.
