Thread regarding Optum layoffs

Optum Insight layoffs mid-July

Anyone have any details about who will be impacted? Heard through the grapevine a huge number of layoffs will occur mid-July and OI will be the most impacted.

They're getting rid of ONSHORE contractors?

But offshore ones literally don't do ja-----t and we have thousands of them, why are we focusing on whatever few onshore contractors we have?

What an id--tic decision.

@kf
Hey d-mb a-s who made the comment about employees over 54 years old being unproductive, I am in that age range and I can and do run circles around the 30-40 year olds who are not putting in one minute over their 8 hours. Hopefully you will be threatened with the loss of your job when you are in your 50s and can see what it feels like.

@K6 be careful what you wish for - Over 54 is unhirable. They need a nap, sometimes two each day

They will never do the voluntary severance option again. It went horribly wrong with Mike Bakers roll out and they haven't even begun to see the negative effects yet because they asked people to extend their time to August since too many good employees took the option. Especially in claims because the operation and leadership is so bad now. THe claims teams are very unhappy. As to the OP question, I did hear there are many layoffs for OI coming over the next few months and it will extend into the ECS teams and others as well. The operations for UHC is also not going well after the layoffs either so there will likely be more changes for that org still to come.

@ek providers are you revenue cycle? Or on the insurance side?

It has come to my attention that some departments have had to implement layoffs. As a result, some of us are now tasked with supporting two providers simultaneously rather than one at a time. This needs to stop.

Some view it as the Wonker Golden Ticket. Others view it as a failure. Give us a VOLUNTARY Package!! Lets us keep our self esteem.

Has it impacted the US contractors or only the offshore ones for now? We are losing half of our offshore contractors end of this. month. We don't have any US contractors.

@ah Yep. Contractors are toast to save FTEs (for now). Still looking for the light at the end of the tunnel and no spark yet, so who knows about FTEs.
