Thread regarding Shell Oil layoffs

What happens after Lift and Shift?

Anyone out there with actual insight on what will happen AFTER the Lift and Shift? My speculation is that the L&S was expedited to March so that the receiving business units will have a chance to see what's under the hood before the OP/BP26 cycles start.

Transition 2009 was a slow and dreadful mess. Reshape did not improve anything. The quietly executed re-orgs of every division over the last 2 years has been really draining: all jobs that can move east have done so, with a lot of great people leaving the company.

I have major re-org fatigue and would like to plan accordingly. However, I'm at a loss for what happens next (besides share buybacks specifically and OPEX reduction generally).

@ej F&L is there bread and butter as for income. I have never heard divest in the same sentence as F&L. That’s crazy.

I can tell you what is happening in my business, which is a cost center. Plans for headcount reductions through quiet firings and targeting of "low performers". I don't mean just the ones who got lower IPF, I mean those that have strong ratings but are of no use to the megalomaniac management that thinks Shell is a tech company.

STCH is not going away , it’s staying . LT have no idea what there doing. They can not make decisions at all.

If Owen manages to exceed the outsourcing targets, he is one step closer to Wael. Either him or Platinova, the race is on.

@4k1 after p&t is integrated and being streamlined, central functions as IDSO will be outsourced under Owen. As these are commodity services, opex (fte) savings up to 40% possible with similar major sourcing deals as back in 2009. Move the IT people to supplier.

@fj can you share the reduction level in OP26, is it 20-30% range ?

@OP
I think that it will be a bit of a bumpy road as the P&T units make the transition. All of the OPEX pressure that the business units are under is already being felt by P&T and will be felt moreso after the shift. Based on what I know about current budget projections it seems difficult to believe that these units will make it through 2026 intact. I think they'd want to avoid a wholesale reorg but they might not have much choice given current levels of business activity.

@eg I am sure they are allowed to build anything in India. Shell wants to divest F&L for a long time, so this won’t stop them from shutting the site down.

@aw

stch has things that you can’t even get permits to build anymore

shuttering the whole site would be insane

@aw doubt they will SD STCH. Shell went through that mind melting exercise a couple of years ago and I doubt they want to do that again soon. There may be groups leaving permanently bc of divestment or just shutting down that businesses,but there’s still valuable and profitable groups on the site. F&L has a pretty big footprint and that part of the business makes bucks for the company. Business directly tied to the chemical may be on the way out, especially if that business is sold.

Does that mean they are going to shut down STCH soon?
